Today I have a really simple accent look to share with you today! I actually wore this a few months ago, but completely forgot to ever edit the pictures and only just found them, sitting waiting to be used.

butter LONDON Molly Coddled is the gorgeous purple that you see here. When I originally swatched it I had no intention of taking it off, but needed something to pizzazz it up a little. Since I really wanted Molly Coddled to be the star of the show I decided on a simple glittery accent!

The fabulous gold glitter is Deborah Lippmann Shake Your Groove Thing. It is just enough to add an accent to Molly Coddled, while still letting this picture perfect purple shine through.

We all know I love my accent nail manicures even when they are as simple as this! What are your thoughts on the gold accents to Molly Coddled?!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Love: Valentines Skittles

Morning Guys! Ok so I'm a tad behind right now, this post was supposed to go up yesterday and my Geometric Challenge nails were supposed to be up at 6:30AM this morning. I completely crashed last night and totally forgot about both of these. SO here are the last day of the Digit-al Dozen Week, and my challenge nails will be up as soon as I can edit the pictures :)

Since I love my skittles so much I figured that I needed to get one in that was Valentine's Day themed. I didn't really have any inspiration for these, I just grabbed a gradient of red to light pink and some gold glitter and went for it!

These were so glittery and fun. I actually wore these through last weekend when I was working on my term paper and every time I would get discouraged I just looked at how sparkly and happy my nails were and I got another wind. Pretty nails totally help in that department :D

The polishes I used to create this fun skittle are,

Color Club Gingerbread For my thumb I started with Deborah Lippmann Shape of My Heart then did stripes with my medium length striper using all the polishes. My index is a base of Essie Cute As a Button then I randomly dotted the shape of a heart and went back and added some glitter at the end. My middle nail is a base of Color Club Gingerbread and then a dotted pink gradient. My ring nail is random spongling of pinks then I sponged some glitter on the end. Finally my pinky is Color Club Gingerbread with a striped heart using all my pinks and reds!

I loved these sparkly skittles and really enjoyed wearing them! My nails are much shorter because one nail chipped right off so I went as short as I could. Who says you can't rock shorties? ;)

Glitter and Rhinestones Oh My!

I hope you have all had a great weekend! This is the 4th post in the SNAAARKM challenge and the criteria for today is Glitter, Rhinestone's and Fimo Oh My! If you have been following me for awhile then you know that glitter and rhinestones make my very very happy. I'm a very girly girly at heart and love using them both! So I decided that I needed to use both of them in my mani. I was looking at my collection and a glitter that really stood out to me and was an untried was Deborah Lippmann's Shake Your Groove Thing. This got me thinking and I decided to use this and some purple rhinestones, to make this creation. I chose purple because that's the colour of royalty! ;) 

I started with a coat of Orly's Luxe, my favourite gold foil. Then one nail at a time while the polish was still wet I placed the purple rhinestones on with a dotting tool. I was trying to make the rhinestones go in a wavy pattern and I really only managed to get it on my ring and pinky fingers. 

I used the polish brush in Shake Your Groove Thing to sort of dab on the glitter and push it around on the tip of my nail. 

Sidenote: Don't you love the shape of the Deborah Lippmann bottles! They are simply perfection and just the most gorgeous bottles ever. 

These nails were too blingy for words! Between the glitter and the rhinestones I just couldn't get over them! What do you think of insane bling nails like these?

Deborah Lippman's Mermaid's Dream

Good Morning Dears!

I hope you have all had a great weekend. I want to take a minute to thank everyone that was involved with Fish Egg Friday and everyone that took the time to comment or even just read all of the posts that were done throughout the nail polish community two days ago. This community is something really special and I feel absolutely honoured to be a part of it. The way that everyone banded together so quickly for the cause makes my heart melt a little :) I love absolutely everyone that I have met through this and basically you all rock! Ok ok enough of the mushy stuff onto the polish :) 


Today I have Deborah Lippmann's Mermaid's Dream to show you. As soon as I saw this polish hit the web I knew I needed it before I had even seen a swatch on a nail. It seriously is completely unique and a complete stunner. This polish is so complex that it really is hard to describe. It is a sea foam green base with a pearly, metallic, frost like finish that somehow does not end up streaky. Then there is blue and gold micro shimmer, with large blue glitter floating through it.

This was an absolute dream to apply. It needed 3 coats to become fully opaque, but there was no clean up needed. The polish really builds on itself and ends up looking exactly like what I would picture a mermaid's tail to look like.

I am completely in love with this. I know I have been saying that about a lot of polishes lately, but look at them!? People just keep creating some absolutely gorgeous Treasuries! This is a rather hungry glitter. You would probably need a coat of Gelous and a coat of two of SV to get this perfectly smooth.

Also don't you love the shape of the DL bottles? They are so pretty, I wish all my polishes came in these square beauties.

Mermaid's Dream can be purchased at a variety of high-end retailers, directly from Deborah Lippmann's e-store and Nail Polish Canada. It will cost you $18 USD directly from Deborah Lippmann and $22 CAN from Nail Polish Canada. Yes it is a pricey polish, but it really is a beautiful one. I anticipate this will be making a number of appearances this summer on my nails!

Deboprah Lippmann Bad Romance vs. Revlon's Scandelous Dupe Comparison

Today I have another dupe comparison for you. I'll be comparison Deborah Lippmann's Bad Romance with Revlon's Scandelous. Scandelous was originally released under the name Facets of Fuchisa. Scandelous is the exact same polish, Revlon just rereleased it under a new name.


First up the bottles

In the bottles these two look almost identical. Bad Romance looks like it has more concentrated small pieces of glitter, but that could be a result of the glitter sticking to each other and might be solved by some serious shaking.


I applied two coats of Bad Romance and Scandelous on my index and middle fingers and then one coat of each over Wet an Wild's Black Creme on my ring and pink fingers.

On the nail there are a few differences. Scandelous has more of a jelly formula than Bad Romance, so the glitter stands out a little more. It seems to me that the glitter in Scandelous is a little brighter as well.

For these swatches I didn't try to fish out the glitter, I wanted to see what the polish did on its own. Bad Romance is for sure one of those glitters that will require a little bit of fishing to get the big hex glitter onto your nail.





Sunlight

  In the sunglight I noticed the same. They look a little different, but if you spend the time to fish out the glitter from Bad Romance I think they would be exactly the same. 

Application wise, they were very similar. I actually prefer Scandelous to Bad Romance, the glitter comes through nicely and thr $4.47 price tag sure as hell beats the $18 Bad Romance costs. If you are lemming Bad Romance, I would say you can kill that lemming with Scandelous.

Deborah Lippmann and Claire's Candy Shop Dupe Comparison

A few weeks ago a blog post took the nail polish by storm as someone had found a bottle of nail polish in Claire's that looked like a dupe of Deborah Lippmann's Candy Shop... also called Candy Shop. Since I own the Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop a dupe comparison was in order!

First up the bottles,

You can see right away that the Claire's polish has a hot pink base, where the DL is more of a milky pink.

Again it is pretty clear that the two pink's are not identical in this shot. It also looks like DL has more small round glitter while Claire's focuses on larger glitter pieces.

I applied two thickish coats on all fingers, DL Candy Shop on my index and ring fingers and Claire's Candy Shop on my middle and pinky fingers.

 To many they may look exactly the same on the nail, but I still see the differences. It is really evident that the Claire's polish has a hot pink base, which is more opaque than the DL. Since it is more opaque some of the glitter is hidden underneath the pigment, while DL's the base is more jelly like so the glitter can really show through and take centre stage instead of the pink base.

  Again in sunlight the differences are obvious. Claire's has that hot pink base.

Application wise, the DL goes on much smoother and all the glitter lays flat on the nail. It is pretty evident on my pinky nail that the glitter is not laying flat in the Claire's polish.
There are NOT exact dupes of each other, but are probably close enough that you don't need both in your collection. I prefer the Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop, because I like that the glitter lays flat and it much easier to apply.
