Snapping Dragons before Mimosas

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Make sure you enter the Spring Beauty Essentials Giveaway! ;)

If you are celebrating Easter this weekend I hope that you are having a wonderful chocolate filled weekend. Since it's starting to warm up there is nothing better than yellow and flowers! I love yellow polish during the spring, and florals are classic this time of year.

I started off with NYC Lexington Yellow which is quite possibly my favourite yellow for the price. I have gone through 3/4 of my bottle and will need to pick up a new bottle soon. Then I pulled out the 3 pinky reds from the Avant Garden Blooming Brights Collection and went to work on the rest of the mani.

I used China Glaze Passion for Petals and China Glaze Snap My Dragon to create the flowers on my ring nail and thumb. I used my smallest nail art brush and a quick flicking motion to create all the petals. On my middle nail I used China Glaze Manis Before Mimosas to create the gradient.

These are so fun and bright for spring. Perfect for an Easter weekend! What are on your nails this weekend? I hope you are all having a good one!

A Broken Skittlette

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Afternoon loves!

Today I have the first nails that I have done since I broke my ankle. Everything is crazy tiring so I wanted something quick that was going to look great to last for a few days. I ended up doing one of my favourite looks, a skittlette!

I grabbed NCLA AM: Beauty Sleep, PM: Shopping Spree because I'm loving pastels for spring and used that as my inspiration. I rifled through my stamping plates and found MASH-47 and this broken pattern seemed rather fitting for this manicure.

I used Milani White On The Spot and Wet n Wild Black Creme for my stamped nails. I have really been lemming Nicole by OPI Luke of the Draw from all the swatches I have seen out there. Unfortunately every time I went to buy it it was sold out! Luckily when I was rifling through my helmer I found Milani Gray Tux which seems to be pretty close to my lemming! It has satisfied me for now!

I really like skittlette looks and this was my first time putting two rhinestones on my nails like that. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did, so you will see this style of nails from me again soon.

I think that I thought with a broken ankle I would have time to do my nails, but honestly I am struggling huge with even painting my nails once a week. Also my nails are breaking like crazy as they sometimes bang against my crutches and I have super nubs with no free edge. My swatch pile is building up, but at the moment I won't be able to catch up anytime soon. So I'm going to be a little more sporadic with my posting until I am able to walk again. I hope you all understand!

Love you all!

Matte is the New Black! Redefine Colour with New OPI Matte Top Coat

Hey everyone!
I'm really excited to share this press release from OPI with you today. OPI is releasing their own Matte Top Coat! I love matte polish looks, but I get discouraged from using my current matte top coat because   often matte looks chip much more quickly. OPI's top coat looks like it will provide a sealing protection, designed not to chip! OPI has posted a number of ideas on their Facebook page which you can see here. Now let's check out the press release!

Matte is the New Black!

Redefine Color with New OPI Matte Top Coat

OPI Matte Top Coat instantly transforms glossy nail lacquer to a matte finish when applied over any OPI hue.  Matte Top Coat provides sealing protection, without shine and protects nails from chipping, making manicures last longer.  With a matte, transparent finish, Matte Top Coat is designed to leave nails velvety smooth and creates a touchable texture for an edgy appearance.
“A matte finish can be worn over any OPI nail lacquer shade and should be applied after the base coat and primary coats of color to give nails a unique look,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder VP & Artistic Director. “Using Matte Top Coat to transform any shade in your collection makes it a more versatile and budget-friendly way to embrace the matte trend. Give your favorite lacquers an update with a new finish without altering the color.”
Matte Top Coat contains no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde. This product includes OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application.
OPI Matte Top Coat will be available April 2013, at Professional Salons and Spas across Canada for $10.95 CAN suggested retail.

Nude 'n Rainbows

Purchased by Me

Hey Everyone!

How are you all doing today? It's still been snowing here, which is terrible for me as my landlord has not come by to remove the snow yet and I'm having a hell of a time getting in and out of my house with my crutches. Needless to say I am unimpressed. He'll be getting another call from me soon lol.

I've got another from the vault post to share with you. I did these when I wanted something quick and dirty but wanted it to have a little bit of flair as well. I pulled out OPI Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh and painted all my nails with 2 easy coats.

Then I took out my Art Club Stripers Brites Set and used all 7 of those stripers to create my rainbow on my ring and thumb as accent nails! It was bright and fun enough to cheer me up out of the dreary winter weather. I know it said it yesterday, but please can the snow melt and spring come! Also so I don't have to be terrified of leaving my house and slipping on more ice... lol

Is the weather still dreary where you are? Do you use fun colours on your nails to cheer yourself up when it is so crappy out?

Hope you guys are having a good day!
