The Digit-al Dozen Does Animal Week: Nudiibranch

Purchased by Me

Morning! Today is day three in the Digit-al Dozen's Animal Week and today's is probably my least favourite nail art of the week. Let's see what you all think!

Nudiibranch Animal

Today's inspiration is a sea slug called a Nudiibranch! It's a rather comical name but is a really cool looking animal that I just wasn't quite able to capture on my nails. Here's the real thing,

Nudiibranch Animal

I love the bright dots on the nude background. I'm still amazed that these kinds of creatures really exist!

I started out with China Glaze Desert Sun and then added a coat of OPI Samoan Sand to give it a squishy jelly feel and lighten the colour a little. Then using a big dotting tool I used Julep Stella to add the base for my Nudiibranches spots. Then using smaller dotting tools I dotted China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-le and China Glaze Creative Fantasy for my spots!

While I wish I had been able to better capture the Nudiibranch, side note has anyone else giggled while reading that? Or just me? lol. I like polka dots so this look isn't all bad. I created another handy pinable image with the Nudiibranch in the corner!

What do you think of the Nudiibranch? How are you liking Animal Week so far? Since my classes are over I'm enjoying relaxing for a day or two before I have to finish up any last few assignments and start studying for exams. It's been raining up a storm here and I'm hoping that it slows down soon!!

Make sure you check out the rest of the Digit-al Dozen's Animals today!

Abstract Art Fail

Hey ladies and gents!

Today I have a total fail of a mani to share with you. I actually did these back during January's Digit-al Dozen Art Week but hated them so took them off right away and started over, but I took pictures and I don't have anything else to share right now so here they are!

abstract art

I found this painting online and thought it looked really cool, but I didn't translate it well enough onto the nail.

I was hoping that by doing a ruffian it would emulate the waving black bottom of the painting. Also instead of doing squares I thought dotting tools would work. Again not so much.

I used a bunch of polishes for this and I've listed them all below,
Julep Stella
Wet n Wild Black Creme
Maybelline Color Show Auburn Ablaze
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Rapid Red
Barielle Pin Up
Miliani White On The Spot
China Glaze Desert Sun
Revlon Bare Bones
Joe Fresh Caramel

I always said I would share my fails on here because they aren't always perfect! So what do you guys think of this Abstract Art fail?

I have some exciting news to share with you all tomorrow so stay tuned for that lovely ladies!!

Julia Got Studded

Evening loves! Today I have some quick nails that I did a few weeks ago to share with you. I was lucky enough to receive a December Julep Maven box for free and I finally got to pick it up. Inside was the beautiful Julep Julia which I wanted to use right away.

I had the idea to do 3 studded nails, but ran out of time so I just went with the single middle accent like Sarah of Chalkboard Nails did here.

The studs I used are from Born Pretty Store and are the 2mm gold studs that can be found here. To put the studs on I started by doing a sort of ruffian and then built it up until I had a full nail covered!

I quite like this look! The studs are easy to put on and make a great statement as a full studded nail! Do you like this look? Would you wear a full studded accent nail? Hope you had a great Monday dolls!

Julep Maven It Girl Intro Box and a Giveaway! (Closed)

Morning lovelies!

Have you heard of the Julep Maven Program? Each month you will get sent a box full of nail polish and other beauty products that are tailored to your specific style. There are a number of different options that include, "It Girl", "Classic With a Twist", "Boho Glam", "American Beauty" and "Bombshell". There is a style profile quiz that you can take to help you determine what your style is. However if you don't think that they got it quite right you can change to whichever style you think suits you! When I took the quiz it said I was an It Girl so I decided to trust the quiz and I received the It Girl Intro Box!

In my box there were three polishes, Sasha, Lily and Daisy as well as some toe separators for pedicures! I really like how summery these polishes are, they are really bright and perfect for the season. I decided to do a little nail art using these 3 polishes!

I started with 3 thin coats of Daisy, which is a beautiful butter yellow creme. I don't have another yellow like this in my stash, I'm really excited about it! Then I used Sasha which is a melon coloured creme and Lily a purple jelly to create the skittles nail art. Since Lily is a jelly it wasn't as opaque as Sasha, but I like the colour it creates over Daisy. I was really impressed with the formula on these!

Juelp was kind enough to share a few extras that will go to you!! If you would like to become a Julep Maven you can use my referral link and get your Intro Box for just a penny! Use the promo code MAVENINTRO upon checkout! (valid at time of publication) Getting a few polishes for a penny? That's a hell of a deal to me!

They also are going to provide an Intro Box for one of you! Enter using the rafflecopter widget below for your chance to win! The giveaway is open to Canadian and Americans, sorry International folks, I've got something in the works for you very soon! It will run until July 13th.

Have you tried Julep polishes? Do you like the skittle nail art I created with them?

Hope you all have a great day and good luck!!

The Julep Intro Box was provided to me for my honest review by their PR or manufacturing department.
