A Different Kind of Post

Hey everyone, this is not a nail polish related post, but instead a life post. Today with my family we had to put down our 14 year old Golden Retriever, Lacey.

She had been suffering with bone cancer and it had come time, but she was so full of life and love right up until the very end.

She was an incredible dog, hardly ever did anything wrong and was always there to cheer you up and knew when you needed her. We have many memories over the past 14 years with her and I will be keeping those close to my heart over the next week days and weeks.

I will still be trying to keep up with the challenge through the end, but if I am late or miss a day I apologize in advance and hope you all understand.

RIP Lacey. I'll always love you <3

31 Day Challenge Day 23: Inspired by a Movie

Inspired by a movie huh? There were so many possible designs that I wanted to do for this day. I had such a hard time narrowing them down. Finally I settled on a movie that I really love, American Psycho.

If you haven't seen American Psycho, essentially it is about a Wall Street executive who likes to violently murder people at night. He's completely psycho, but it's an awesome movie!

My inspirations for each nail were drawn from different points in the movie, and I actually watched the movie while I was doing them! Just in case anything else struck an idea.

My index nail is inspired by the cover of the movie. I used Cult Nails Evil Queen as my base and then did the details in It's So Easy Stripe Rite in Black, Red and White. I used NYC Sidewalkers for the knife. My middle nail is supposed to be blood splatter from when he does all those crazy killings. I used Milani White On The Spot as my base an splattered with China Glaze Vermillion and China Glaze Adventure Red-Y. My ring nail is swirl, because well he's psycho and I feel like that's a good representation of crazy. lol My pinky is a rose, because in one of the scenes a bunch of exec's are sitting around a table and there are numerous shots of bunches of roses, plus it fit in with the rest of the theme!

This movie is totally creepy, but it helps that Christian Bale, who plays the lead is smooookkiinn hot. Sooo good looking it's not even fair. :D I felt like since he's holding a knife in the cover I needed to grab a knife and use it as a prop...

...totally creeeeeppppyyy!!! On a side note, do not try using a knife as a normal prop! I was so scared I was going to cut myself somehow!

I also made this handy photo for pinning, in case you weren't sure what movie this was supposed to be! :)

31 Day Challenge Day 22: Inspired by a Song

Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots! Everyboooddyyy!!!

If you haven't guessed my song that I am inspired by today is LMFAO's Shots. This was not my first song choice, but I decided to jump into it and have some fun. So let me present my shots of polish manicure!

inspired by a song

Each nail is done after an actual drink, of which I will provide the actual and polish recipe for below :D

The funny thing about this manicure is that I don't even drink hardly! It's like a once in a blue moon thing for me that I'll even take a shot. I was asking friends on twitter, Facebook and in real life what shots I should do! LOL

I tried to use all jelly polishes to incorporate a liquid look to the shot glasses. It didn't turn out exactly as I had pictured in my head, but I think LMFAO would be proud! :D

This was actually such a fun manicure to come up with! I tried to take an awesome picture of me taking a shots from my nails, but it didn't end up working out so well. You either saw up my nose, or down my throat to my soul lol.

I hope you can find the funny in my shots nails! You should for sure head over to The Lacquerologist to see what awesome song Emily has been inspired by today!

And I shall leave you all with a YouTube video of the incredibly, awesomely obnoxious song, SHOTS! :D

Aphrodite Lacquers Friday Night Glitterbombs

Hey guys! This afternoon I have some wicked new layering glitters from Aphrodite Lacquers Friday Night Glitterbombs Collection to share with you. If you like square glitter, then this is the collection for you. Let’s jump right in shall we!

aphrodite lacquers vip room

First up we have VIP Room. This is a really soft glitter in a clear base packed with large iridescent square glitter and micro blue shimmer. I’ve layered it over 2 coats of Essie Bikini So Teeny, however I think the iridescent glitter would stand out over any dark shade. This one is really versatile and I think is my favourite of the bunch!

Next up is Velvet Rope. This glitter is packed with various sizes of square glitter. There is small and large black and white square glitter, large dark purple squares, small lilac purple square glitters, black micro glitter and blue shimmer. There is a lot going on in this polish, but it is all pulled together really nicely. This one took a little more of the dabbing method to properly apply and get even glitter coverage. I ended up placing a lot of the larger glitter so that I had more of a distribution of colour. It is layered over Nail The B.Y.T.C.H Fruity Cutie Butte.

Lastly we have Doorman. Again this baby is packed with square glitter. There is large and small black, white and metallic blue squares in a clear base with that subtle blue shimmer running through. This is another of my favorites, because well you all know I like me some blue glitter! Again this one has to be applied in more of a dabbing method to get the various colours of glitter spread out on your nail. This is layered over Wet n Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint.

Overall these polishes are really nice for layering and since they all have a clear base, there are endless possibilities to what they can be layered over. My favourite is VIP Room, I love how subtle it is and it will be so versatile is being layered over a variety of colours. As soon as I opened the package my sister wanted to wear it, and she layered it over a really deep blue, which looked fantastic.

Which one of these is your favourite?

You can the find Aphrodite Lacquers Friday Night Glitterbomb collection on sale in Rebecca’s Etsy Shop for $8.50 for a full 15mL bottle. Also keep up with her on Facebook and Twitter to see what else she comes up with!
