Nicki Minaj Save Me and Turquoise Shatter

So there is a funny story behind this swatch. I got the Nicki Minaj Collection for Christmas and on the box it said the colours were Did it On 'Em, Fly, Pink Friday and Metallic 4 Life. So not looking that closely at the actual colours I assumed that those were the four colours that I got. Then I was putting on what I assumed was Metallic 4 Life and realized it looked nothing like it was supposed to! So I did some searching and voila I actually had Save Me! Has anyone else run into this? Do all the mini collections have Save Me labeled as Metallic 4 Life?

Well that is besides the point, but I'm not really sure how I feel about this polish. It covers pretty well, but all the bar glitter doesn't sit perfectly on the nail and well I just don't know how I feel about it.

I do really like the colouring of it, but I'm just not the biggest fan of it on its own. Sidenote, I used it over a navy blue on my toes and I really did like that colour combo!

I tried to put turquoise shatter over it, but I don't think the shatter sat well on top of the glitter, or maybe I didn't wait long enough for it to be dry. Or maybe the glitter just doesn't show through very well. Anyway not a fan of this combination.

I will work on finding better combinations for both these polishes. I really think that they are probably great polishes on their own, but together not the best thing I've ever done. This was a disappointing post. I will post again like now to make up for the terribleness of this haha.

Until next time,
Sincerely Stephanie

Nicki Minaj Pink Friday and Red Shatter

And another Nicki Minaj swatch! This time its Pink Friday.
Pink Friday is the absolute perfect bubblegum pink that every girly girl in the world should own.  I'm just going to let the pictures do the talking.

Isn't it simply gorgeous!! And wait it only gets better. I then layered OPI's Red Shatter over top of it and I LOVED it. It reminded me of an Irish Dance dress that I had a few years ago. I'll share the picture at the bottom :)

It's fabulous. The red pink combo generally makes me feel like cupid threw up, but in this case I don't really get that vibe. It's a cute combo that I would for sure wear again, but maybe jazzed up a little :)

Here's the dress I wore,

Don't the nails remind you of it?! I think so anyway haha

Until next time,

Nicki Minaj Fly

Evening lovelies!

Tonight I will be showing you a quick swatch of Fly from the Nicki Minaj OPI Collection.
This blue is such a gorgeous creme, it has a beautiful glisten even without a topcoat.

I love this colour so much! I totally want a full sized bottle of it if I can find it somewhere! I might even wear this polish with nothing else?!!? Crazy I know right? I'm a huge fan :)

Until next time,

Nicki Minaj Did It On 'Em

So I know that everyone has done swatches of the Nicki Minaj collection but I love it so much that I just had to do it too!

Started off with Did It On 'Em

This is one of those 'ugly' colours. It's a neon yellow with a hint of green in it. Regardless that it would be considered an ugly colour I LOVE it. I think it's so pretty. I just felt like it was a party colour.

Since the colour screamed party to me I had to do a glitter gradient with Wet n Wild's Party of Five Glitter. I used the brush to put on the glitter and then spread it out to achieve the gradient look.

I LOVE THIS! The glitter just looks fantastic over this colour. Love it soooo much!

Until next time,

Sincerely Stephanie

Nicki Minaj Inspired Nails

Hey World!

So one of the last designs that I did was a little inspired by Nicki Minaj and her outfit at the MTV music awards. For those of you that don't know what she wore, here it is
photo cred: http://style.mtv.com/2011/08/29/nicki-minaj-raver-vma/
The dress part was what inspired me most, here's a closeup

See the stitching over the silver!? So beautiful! This is what the awesomeness of her outfit inspired me to do

AHH so cool! The silver kept jumping out at me every time I moved my nails.

The polishes used for this design was Sally Hansen's Celeb City, a black striper and a pink striper. I realized after I finished that I should have used OPI's Pink Friday from the Nicki Minaj Collection, but I was already finished, so maybe next time.

celeb city, black striper, pink striper
In order to get this design, start off by protecting your nails with a lovely base coat! For this one I used Orly's Liquid Nail Wrap and Ridgefiller.

Once the nail is prepped I put one coat of celeb city and let it dry.
Then took the black striper and made Xes across all of my nails.
Once those are dry take the pink striper and make small ticks across the X so that the whole X is covered in stitches.

It is a really subtle design that is cute and fun, and SO easy to do. I apologize about the lack of clean up around my nails, it was late and I didn't have time and I was exhausted. The whole starting a new job and having to get up at 6am every morning was getting to me. Need more COFFEE. haha :)

I think the above image shows how cute this is.

Love this design!

And remember as always to finish off with your favourite top coat! I used OPI's Start to Finish.

Until next time,

Fly with Gold Shatter!

Hey all!!
Sorry I haven't done a nail post in awhile, with all the craziness of the holidays finishing and starting a new job I just haven'y had the time! So there will be multiple posts this weekend :)

For my first post Christmas manicure I just haaaaaad to use the new Nicki Minaj nail polish and one of my new shatters. So why not put them together! This one was super easy, but had a great effect that I got complimented on a lot! The teller at the DMV even said she loved my nails!

This was the final product...

Final Manicure!
How pretty is that!? and soooo simple.

So to start off with I had to use the new lotion and nail and cuticle oil that I also got for Christmas.

The nail oil feels unreal on your cuticles! There is life put back into them! Using oils such as this are especially important when you're changing your nails so often, they can tend to get extremely beat up, so I am thrilled to finally be taking care of them!

So as always apply your base coat first! I used OPI's Start to Finish Base Coat, also a Christmas present!

Then apply two coats of Fly by OPI from the Nicki Minaj Collection.

two coats of Fly
I really like the colour of this polish. It's a gorgeous teal, with a bit of shine and not toooo bright. It's perfect for this time of year where you want to add a bit of colour but don't want a bright summer colour screaming at you all the time.

After this I added a layer of OPI Gold Shatter to give it a little extra something. A trick with Shatter is trying to get your whole nail covered in one stroke to get the ultimate shatter effect. Once you try to put multiple layers of shatter the polish sticks together and won't shatter anymore, which will ruin the effect you are going for.

with the gold shatter!!

This looks so pretty and is perfect for this time of year and takes noooo time at all to do.

 fly shatterrrr
Polish Used
Again the polish I used was OPI's Fly in the Nicki Minaj Collection and OPI's gold shatter.

I have more posts coming this weekend so stay tuned!!

Until next time,

Sincerely Stephanie
