Good Morning!

Today brings us to the most dreaded day of the challenge, the water marble. I hate this technique. I have never posted any on this blog that I have not been forced into because of a challenge. Don't get me wrong! I have tried, again and again and watched countless videos on how to properly draw a design and I fail. Every. Single Time. I went into this with high hopes! But yet again I cannot draw a design no matter how many times I try!

For this water marble I started off with OPI Skull and Glossbones an off white gray. Then I proceeded to marble with China Glaze Gothic Lolita, China Glaze Passion For Petals as well as Skull and Glossbones. I went about it the usual way, by dropping dots into a shot glass filled with water and then drawing my design in. One nail at a time.

Well I did it. I'm not sure if I like it, I always get frustrated and associate that feeling with watermarbles. At least I didn't cry this time! There have been many times where I have attempted and after hours just stopped lol. SO what are your thoughts on this water marble?! Do you like it?

31 Day Challenge Day 20: Watermarble

Watermarble day. Well if you've been following me for awhile you know that me and watermarbles don't always get along so well. It's been a struggle, but I think I finally succeeded on all 5 nails! :D

When I was deciding what colours to use I was having a hard time. I kept leaning towards my safe blues and I really wanted to get out of my blue comfort zone. Then I was having dinner and went to pour some Fruitopia and voila! I knew exactly what colours I was going to be using!

I used China Glaze Gaga For Green, China Glaze 108 Degrees and China Glaze Cha Cha Cha. The first time I tried these over Gaga For Green and I just wasn't loving how the pink was showing up. So I scratched that and used Milani White On The Spot as my base.

I learned that I'm not very good at drawing more complicated designs. So I tried this one that was only 3 strokes in the water! And I'm pretty proud that I kind of managed it on all 5 nails! Wooohooooo!

I was planning on drawing a fruit or writing Fruitopia on one of my nails, but honestly I was so proud of this that I didn't want to cover them up! :D

I know these aren't even close to being perfect, but I'm very pleased with them! I think I captured the Rapsberry Kiwi Karma Fruitopia very well! :D

Abstract Nail Art Challenge Day 12: Watermarble

It's Day 12 of the Abstract Nail Art Challenge!! I can't believe there is only a week left in June! Where has the time gone? The theme in todays challenge is Watermarble. Me and the watermarble have come a loooong way in my journey through the nail world. A few months ago I used to attempt them, trying all different types of water and different types of polishes and NOTHING would work. The polish wouldn't spread and then I couldn't draw a design and I would end up spending hours getting frustrated and usually end up crying. Yes I know that sounds pathetic. During the last challenge that I did I finally did my first semi successful marble! And I think this one is even better! I really think practicing has helped. Yes I have some water marbling bloopers that I haven't shown on here or I'll do one or two nails to practice and then decide to go for a completely different manicure. Alas here is my marble for this challenge!

I think my favourite nail of the bunch is my pinky! That was the original design I was going for however I didn't figure out how to place my nail in the water to get that until I got to that nail lol! I did a  white base using Sally Hansen White On and then marbled using China Glaze Don't Touch My Tiara, China Glaze Gothic Lolita and China Glaze For Audrey. I chose these colours because they are all the accent colours on my blog!

I loved all my nails except for my thumb. I got a wicked split in my nail and I was attempting to repair it using the teabag method, and it worked great, except for the fact that I cut the teabag too big so it went right down to my cuticle. Since I don't wear polish right down to my cuticle it looks a little awkward. Normally I would have redone the whole thing, but I was in a slight rush so I just left this one. Please forgive me :) Also when I was cleaning the polish out of the shot glass the toothpick rubbed my mani just a tad. So that's why there is this awkward mark. My bad.

Overall I'm really pleased with this manicure! The dreaded watermarble is no longer quite so dreaded. Maybe one day I will do a water marble that isn't for a challenge and post it on here! lol!

My First Successful WATERMARBLE!

Today is the last day in the SNAAARKM challenge! And today is a dozie. It's a watermarble. Now if you have been with me for awhile you know that watermarbles tend to be the bane of my existence. I know you all said that you loved the one I did in the Black and White Challenge, but I wanted to be able to get some of those clean and crisp lines that everyone manages to get! And guys, I think I did it! 

I used China Glaze White on White for my base and marbled with China Glaze Gothic Lolita,  China Glaze Don't Touch My Tiara and White on White. Look how pretty it is! I think what helped this time was that I used filtered water from my Brita Filter. I took it out of the fridge the night before and let it have plenty of time to come to room temp. I then made my design with a toothpick instead of an orange stick. Both seemed to help! I know I for sure need lots of practice making better designs, but I am very pleased with this outcome! 

My thumb is my favourite I think. 


Since I have been on a huge accent nail kick I used Aphrodite Lacquers Ambrosia as an accent on my index nail. This is from their Sandbar Collection and is a pink jelly base, with purple and gold medium sized glitters and gold micro glitter. I totally love this polish and will probably have to wear it again sometime soon.

I had a lot of fun doing this! And I was ridiculously stoked that I was able to actually make it work! I will be trying more water marbles again to practice my drawing skills.

Black and White Challenge: Day 9

Day nine of the challenge! We are so close!


Today's challenge is a black and white water marble. I am not a good water marbler. In fact I am a terrible water marbler. I have used filtered, bottled and boiled water at room temperature and it never works for me. Oh yes I can get the polish to spread. And then I can draw a design, but for some reason when I dip my nail into the water all the colours mush together and I end up with a mess. I have watched hours and hours of you tube videos of people doing them and I think I'm doing it right? Who knows haha. Anyway I used China Glaze White on White and Wet n Wilds Black Creme for this mess.

Bleh. Not impressed.

I took these off as soon as I was finished them. And I spent at least 4 hours working on these. Redoing nail after nail and this was the best I got. I know it's awful. If you have any water marble suggestions please help!

*EDIT:* One of my lovely challenge buddies Esther just suggested to me that my nails remind her of this picture, but in gray tones! What do you guys think?

On another note we are almost done! Just the recreate your favourite day. There have been so many amazing and creative nails done that I have no idea what to do! It's going to take some thought.
