Bullion Bows

I've had this idea sketched out in my manicure book for quite some time, and I finally got around to doing it the other day. My nails are newly nubbified so I figured it was a good chance to test it out!

I'm really digging nude polishes lately and my absolute hands down favourite is OPI Samoan Sand. It's just perfect with my skin tone and evokes that there are hardly nails there feel. Love. It. So I started out with two coats of that. One note Samoan Sand takes longer than normal to dry on me, but I don't mind because it's totally worth it.

I added a coat of NYC In a Minute Top Coat to speed up the slow drying process and waited about 15 minutes. Then one nail at a time I added striping tape and painted one coat of Essence Let's Get Lost and then removed the striping tape while the polish was still wet. Once I did all 10 nails I waited again, I really didn't want the top coat to smudge my lines! (which it totally did anyway lol)

Once I figured it was close to dry enough I added top coat on all my nails except for my ring and thumb nails. Going one nail at a time I added a layer of topcoat and then started sticking gold bullion bows down. I started by doing a line of 4 beads and then did a line of 3, 2, 1 and back out to 4 to create the little bows. One more coat of NYC and my mani was done!

I quite liked the final result here. To me the bows just gave it something a little extra!

What do you think of the added 3D bow on blue and nude stripes?

Hope you're having a fabulous Monday! :D

  2. Those are gorgeous, I haven't seen many bows done this way. Yours are perfect! And you are so patient, I always ruin my striping tape manis because I don't let them dry long enough.

  6. I haven't been a big fan of micro-beads so far BUT these bows are adorable! I like how you kept it simple and didn't use them on every finger. This is in my top 2 of micro-bead manicures!
