Born Pretty Store Nail Foils

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Goooood Evening!

Today I have a review of some Born Pretty Store Nail Foils to share with you! These are awesome instant nail art and I think I'm going to have to pick up some more.

I used a basic black creme as my base. In order to get the really cool effect you start with one coat and let that dry completely. Then for your second coat you wait until it's tacky, so that if you pressed your finger in it it would leave a print, but not pick up the polish.

Then take your foil with the coloured side down and press it into your tacky polish. The foil will transfer from the paper to your nail and leave you with this gorgeous effect that is just way too cool for words!

The foil that I used was #26 and can be picked up here for $2.99 for more foil than you will ever be able to use. ALSO use my 10% off code SAX 731 for even more savings. I have seen some really cool effects using a few different coloured foils for a gorgeous look.

What do you think of this look?!

China Glaze Holiday Joy Collection

Hey Loves! It's Black Friday! Woohooo! I hope all my American friends had a lovely Thanksgiving yesterday and if you are partaking in the madness today, shop safe! :)

Today I have 4 polishes from the China Glaze Holiday Joy Collection to share with you. These are all awesome so let's just jump right into them!

China Glaze Glistening Snow

First up is Glistening Snow. This is such a cool polish. It is very fine silver and holographic glitter. My camera literally could not capture how holographic this is. Even in low light there were rainbows bouncing off the walls! I did three coats here, but I have since used this again and you can do 2 thicker coats and reach full opacity as well!

China Glaze Glistening Snow
Blurred For Holo Effect
This is on the thick side, but you could layer it to add some holographic shine over any polish. The best way to describe this glitter is China Glaze Fairy Dust, on steroids. It's just plain awesome. You need this.

China Glaze Glistening Snow
China Glaze Blue Bells Ring

Now we've got one of the stars of the collection. Blue Bells Ring. This is a true one coater. No need for a second coat to even it out. It is perfect. In the bottle it looks like an icy blue foil, but it is more a lit from within blue foil once it is on your nail.

China Glaze Blue Bells Ring

One of the best things about this is that I don't think it will stain. I had no issues with it, which is awesome since these kinds of blues are notorious for staining. This will be an awesome stamping polish and I predict it will be making more appearances soon!

China Glaze Blue Bells Ring
china glaze merry berry

Next we have Merry Berry a cranberry red creme. This is beautiful deep berry red. This is two coats, but if you did one thicker coat you could completely make this a one coater!

china glaze merry berry

This is really beautiful. I didn't think I would like this one as much as it's a pretty basic creme, but the colour is actually rather beautiful once it's on the nail. I can see this pairing perfectly with a sequin black dress over the holidays.

china glaze pizzaz

Last up we have Pizzaz! This is a multi coloured glitter in a clear base. This is very similar to many other multi coloured glitters out there, like OPI Rainbow Connection, Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday and the like. Jen of The Polishaholic does a great comparison post you can see here.

china glaze pizzaz

I did one coat over Revlon Bare Bones and I really like the combination of the multi glitters over a nude base. This would look really cool mattified! The above picture really shows the different colours of the glitter. The large purple ones are especially beautiful. The glitter payoff is great. If you did 3-4 coats you could probably build this to full opacity if you wanted multi coloured blingtastic nails! (Although it would be a bish to get off!)

china glaze pizzaz

I don't think I can narrow it down. I would probably pick Glistening Snow and Blue Bells Ring if I had to decide between these. They really are something special. You can see the rest of the polishes in my press release post!

The China Glaze Holiday Joy Collection is available now in local beauty supply's such as Sally Beauty or Ulta. Which ones have you picked up from this collection?

Peacock Blues!

Hey all!

I've got a day late Monday Blues to share with you today. I planned on posting this yesterday but here in Canada it was a holiday and it was absolutely fabulous outside. I spent my day lounging by the pool reading a book and could not tear myself away! So sorry this is a day late!

A few weeks ago the lovely Amber of Amber Did It! said that Orly's Sweet Peacock was her favourite go to polish so since it's been sitting in my drawer for a few months I decided to get my act together and use it! I needed to incorporate some nail art with it so decided to go with some peacock themed accent nails.

I started off with 2 coats of Sweet Peacock on my index, middle and pinky nails and put 2 coats of NYC French White Tip on my thumb and ring finger. Sweet Peacock is such an amazing blue foil from the 2011 Birds of a Feather Collection. There are a few rougher bits throughout it, which makes the polish look a little rougher without top coat and those silver pieces stand out to make this polish something extra special. Amber was right, this polish is incredible!

For my accent nails I used Sweet Peacock, Essence's Wanna Be Your Sunshine, the Blue Color Club Chrome striper and the Green Color Club Chrome Striper. I used dotting tools and the striper brushes to create the peacock design. I used a dotting tool to place the yellow and green rhinestones alternating down the middle of my nail.

I loved this look so much!! Peacock designs are getting pretty popular right now and I might have a couple other designs up my sleeve! ;)

This was so fun to wear, and I got a lot of compliments on how shiny and eye catching it was!  I love foil polishes, they always look so awesome in my opinion. So big thanks to Amber for helping inspire this mani :) Actually Amber posted some kickass Peacock nails yesterday! Go check them out!

What do you think of the peacock trend? Like my nails?

Have you tried anything like this lately?

Black and White Challenge: Day 10

We made it! It is the last day of the challenge! This has been an absolutely awesome month and these girls have inspired and amazed me time and time again throughout this challenge!
Today's challenge is manicure of your choice. We decided to pick a mani that one of us has created through the past month and recreate it! This was one of the hardest things that I had to do in this challenge. There were so many amazing ones to pick from! I had such a hard time narrowing it down to even one per person!

Finally after probably hours of deliberating over which nails I was going to recreate I decided on Sammy's Day 5 nails,

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them
One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

I used Orly's Luxe and black acrylic paint to achieve this look. I think what finally settled me on creating this manicure was that I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan. I read all the books when I was very young, have reread them and seen every movie multiple times! After I finish this post I'm going to put one on in bed and drift off watching :)

Mine is not an exact replica of Sammy's, she got some of the detail so small! So it is slightly different lettering, but still has the same idea!

Eeeee I totally love them!! This challenge has been one of the best things I have done since I started blogging. Chatting with these fantastic ladies has been so wonderful, and they are all amazingly talented, creative and just some of the nicest people you can meet!

I'm really excited to see what the rest of the sexy6 has recreated! Make sure you go check it out!

Sally Hansen's Celeb City and Orly Luxe

Morning Folks!
We're almost through the week here, which means I am almost done my job! My last day is tomorrow and I'm really excited to be done. Anything exciting coming up for any of you?

Today I am showing you my favourite silver and gold foil polishes. I find that I tend to use these a lot in nail art or as bases when doing nail art, so I thought it was time to show them some love on their own.

First up is Orly's Luxe.

orly-luxe

This was part of Orly's 2010 Foil FX collection. The polish is 3 free and went on really smoothly for me and didn't show brush strokes! The colour is really close too a true gold, but I think there are silver particles running through it which keeps the polish from getting too yellow.

I love this foil. It is so shiny. This only required 2 coats for full opacity and is for sure a get noticed type of polish. I have no top coat on in these photos. Also don't you love the name? Luxe just sounds so luxurious!

My favourite silver foil is Sally Hansen's Celeb City from the Xtreme Wear line.

I got this polish over a year ago before I found my insane love for polish and nail art. This was just when Black Shatter had come out and I managed to snag myself a bottle, because let's be honest, Shatter was the coolest thing anyone had ever seen. Then I needed something to put under it. I thought I didn't have anything in my about 35 bottle collection that would look right with it. So I found this and used it under my then precious Black Shatter. The night I happened to use it was a girls night and I got so many compliments on my Shatter and Silver nails. Ever since I have been in love with Celeb City and have used over half the bottle in a year.

The formula on this polish is awesome. It can be almost opaque in one coat, which is mad fantastic for a foil. I used 2 coats just to even everything out. It is so shiny I have no topcoat on in these photos and if you add a topcoat it can get even more glistening.

Thank goodness this polish is part of the perm collection because I think I am going to need bottle after bottle of it.

Do you have a favourite gold or silver polish that you keep going back to? Do you own these and madly love them like me?

Sincerely Stephanie
