The Digit-al Dozen Does Tape: Black and Yellow

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Goood Morning loves and lacquerheads!

Today I have the first manicure in tape week which I am actually quite pleased with! I went back to my favourite black and white and threw in some yellow for good measure.

Striping Tape Nails

I had an urge to pull out NCLA Tennis Anyone? and used that on my thumb, middle and pinky nails. On my index and ring nails I started with a base of Cult Nails Tempest. I applied top coat to my index, middle and ring nails and then waited until that was completely dry.

Starting with my index nail, I cut pieces of striping tape and using my set of pointy tweezers I made my design and then did one coat of Wet n Wild Black Creme and removed the tape quickly. I did the same thing in a different pattern on my ring nail. My my middle nail I taped off the sides and did a coat of black creme down the middle, then added a silver square stud from Born Pretty Store. On my thumb and pinky I did a coat of Animeniac Cosmetics Crash Landing to tie it all together.

I'm actually a little obsessed with these and don't want to take them off to do something for tomorrow! It's visually striking and right up my alley! I'm actually liking striping tape, in this small capacity.

What are your thoughts on these nails? Make sure to check out the rest of the Digit-al Dozen!

Morning Everyone!

First off I want to apologize for my week long absence from my little blog. 4th year at University is hard and on top of all the insane schoolwork I've been doing this week I've unfortunately gotten sick and it's taking all my energy to get to class let alone work on my blog. I'm writing this post from bed and will be going back to sleep once it is published lol. Today I have a new to me brand to share with you, Animeniac Cosmetics! This is a Canadian nail polish line that is inspired by Anime, Magna, Comics, Gaming and Sci-Fi so that all the polishes are bold, vibrant, glittery and creative. I have 4 awesome polishes to share with you today so lets jump right in!

I have a bunch of pictures of these beauties so click through to see more!

Feel Me Up to a Happy Ending

Yup that is a maaad racy title. But I thought it was funny so I decided to run with it ;) I've got an awesome jelly sandwich to share with you today. I recently got some fabulous Cult Nails nail mail and inside contained two amazing polishes Feel Me Up and Happy Ending. (There were more, but those are the ones I'm showing you today!)

Cult Nails Feel Me Up is a stunning yellow creme. It glides on like butter and is one of the nicest yellows I have ever worn. It really is your perfect daffodil yellow and has the always awesome jelly-creme formula. I used three coats here to get the opacity that I wanted, but I probably could have gotten away with two. Topped off with one coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast and you have that glorious swatch. Cult Nails Happy Ending was sitting out just begging to be put over this so I listened to the polish and swiped some on. Yes sometimes polishes speak to me. I can't be the only one right? lol

Ok this polish stole my heart. I mean LOOK AT IT! How amazing does that look over Feel Me Up. Happy Ending is a multi-coloured shredded metallic glitter suspended in a clear base. When I originally saw this I honestly was 'ehn' about it. But it somehow found its way into my polish hands and I am so happy it did! It really is such a happy polish! The layering combinations for this is insanely endless.

Awhile back Colores De Carol posted this fab jelly sandwich. It has been in the back of my mind to recreate for awhile and this felt like the perfect opportunity to add a coat of Essie Marshmallow and have a lovely jelly sandwich.

With the coat of Marshmallow the entire look is completely transformed. Without it it's an edgy summer look and with, a pastal beauty. I've been rocking some neons lately so this was a lovely change from the brightness.

I was totally felt up to a happy ending here in the best possible way. ;) Gorgeous base colour? Check. Amazing shredded glitter? Check. Jelly Sandwich? Check. SO GOOD. I had so much fun with this one. The only thing to watch for here was that the shredded pieces in Happy Ending can stick up. You can see a piece on my pinky that stuck through the top coat. This was probably due to my application, but it's something to watch for.

Cult Nails you can feel up my tips any time. ;) If you want to be felt up by Cult Nails you can purchase Feel Me Up and Happy Ending here for $10 each.

What are your thoughts on this colour? Are you ehn on Happy Ending like I orginally was? Or are you jumping up and down wanting this polish like yesterday? Maybe somewhere inbetween? Your thoughts on jelly sandwiches? Personally I hope you like them because I *might* have another one for you this week. I'm obsessed.

I hope this fun post cheered up your Monday! Have a fabulous day and thanks so much for stopping by!! :D

Shredded Matte Mesmerize

Hey there,
So one of the last manis that I did on myself was so simple but looked amazing.

First off I want to apologize for the lack of clean up in all my pictures. I had done my Mom's and my friend's nails then did mine and it was 11:30 and I had to be up at 5:30 for work, so I decided to snap a few pics and head to bed.

This was the simplest thing ever to do. Just start with one or two coats of whatever colour you choose to use. For this I used Essie's Mesmerize.

This colour is a gorgeous blue that just captivated me when I saw it and I HAD to have it. It looks absolutely beautiful on nails too.

After the polish dried I used Essie's matte about you to mattify the colour.

Now comes the hard part. Waiting for this to dry! Since I was going to be using tape this needs to be completely dry so that the tape does not pick up the polish and ruin what you've already done.

I took regular scotch tape and cut zig zags in various sizes. I did this on 10 pieces of tape so that I wouldn't have to re use any pieces, also it gave each nail a slightly different shredded look.

Once my nails were dry I put the tape down and then did another very light coat of Mesmerize and covered it in a top coat.

Wait about a minute and peel off the tape. You don't want to wait too long or else the polish that gets on top of the tape will dry and you won't be able to take the tape off without picking up part of the shredded piece as well.

Overall this mani was super easy and I think looked great! It's subtle enough that it can just look like a gorgeous blue and then wham! you have a shiny shredded side! I will be trying this again with a variety of colours and maybe with tips?!

Until next time,
Sincerely Stephanie
