Gold Goddess Demeter

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Morning!

Today I have some random sponging that I did late one night that I actually ended up loving! I had been wearing piCture pOlish Demeter for a day or so and one night when I was all done studying I decided to add a little to the polish on a whim.

I took a torn off piece of sponge and started with Essie Penny Talk. Using a pair of tweezers I randomly blotched on the copper foil until I liked the look. There was still something missing, so I grabbed NYC West Village, which looks like a violet purple in the bottle, and a new piece of sponge and went to work.

Even though the violet turned out to be blue once I sponged it on I still was digging the abstract look. Although it still needed one more little thing. My gold studs from Born Pretty Store were sitting out on my dresser so I placed one at the bottom of each of my nail! Originally I had thought I would need more than one, but I liked the simple look of the single stud.

What are your thoughts on my sponged late night creation?! Is this a look that you would wear? Or should I have left Demeter alone? Hope you are all having a wonderful day loves!

New Polishes from Hard Candy Swatches and Review

Hey Friends!

You would all not believe the drama that has unfolded over the past week in my life. I went to pick up the keys to my new apartment on the 1st and it turned into one of the most stressful days of my life. I was supposed to be subletting a furnished apartment, pet free and primarily other girls living there. Once I showed up, nothing was furnished, the other tenants were all guys and they had a big dog. Needless to say there was some stress going on. I ended up having to back out of the agreement and then spent the afternoon finding a new place to live! Luckily I was able to find a great place, but the room wasn't furnished. So I was running around like a madwoman (as fast as a madwoman can run on crutches lol) trying to find a bed and all that jazz. Thankfully I have an awesome mom who helped me out huge, but it was just the craziest few days! I'm all moved in now, but have been given orders by the doctor to just rest for a week and try to de stress.

I've had bare nails now for over a week while all of this has been unfolding and while I was looking through my folders I found all these Hard Candy swatches that I meant to post forever and a day ago!! Let's get started. All swatches have one coat of NYC In a Minute Top Coat.

Hard Candy Little Bo Pink
Hard Candy Little Bo Pink
Hard Candy Little Bo Pink

Hard Candy Little Bo Pink this is a wonderful vibrant pink glassfleck. Totally perfect for summer and will be making an appearance on my toes at some point! This is 3 coats. It was opaque after 2, but I could still see some VNL so decided to add a 3rd.

Hard Candy Pinch of Spice
Hard Candy Pinch of Spice
Hard Candy Pinch of Spice

Hard Candy Pinch of Spice this is another awesome summer colour! An orange glassfleck with some yellow shimmer makes this so fun. I think this will look especially nice on people with a darker skin tone. This was 3 coats as well, it has the same formula as Little Bo Pink

Hard Candy Crush On Amethyst

Hard Candy Crush On Amethyst is a violet foil that was almost a one coater. I did two for good measure. It looks slightly darker in real life than my pictures show here. In the bottle I thought it looked really silvery, but once it was on the nail the purple really came out and was just beautiful.

Hard Candy Crush On Copper

Hard Candy Crush On Copper is a copper foil with some glimmers to gold throughout the polish. This was again almost opaque after one coat, and could be if you do thicker coats.

Hard Candy Pixie Pink

Hard Candy Pixie Pink is a lavender purple with copper, teal and white glitter throughout. I think it's a really unique glitter combination! It went on really patchy for the first coat, so I was expecting this to need at least 3, but one the second coat it completely levelled out and was perfect!

Hard Candy Pink Taffy

Hard Candy Pink Taffy is another really unique glitter combination. It has a bright pink base with red, black and white glitters. Awesome! The same formula as Pixie Pink.

Hard Candy Masquerade

Hard Candy Masquerade over Revlon Bare Bones. This is one coat, and could easily be built to full opacity on its own, but I wanted to see what it looked like layered. This dries to a matte, gritty finish so if you want it shiny you may need two coats of top coat to smooth everything out.

Hard Candy So So Sequin

Hard Candy So So Sequin over Deborah Lippmann Shape of My Heart. BLLIINNNNGGGGG! I am in love with this one. It is soo sparkly in real life it's insanity. This could be built up as well to full opacity, but I'm digging the layered look too.

Hard Candy Party Central

Hard Candy Party Central over Wet n Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint. This is an awesome glitter mix. I love the big pieces of white glitter and I think this is going to be super popular and look amazing over a number of shades. One coat and a little dabbing to fill the bare areas.

Hard Candy Mermaid Magic

Hard Candy Mermaid Magic over Wet n Wild On a Trip. This is another beautiful glitter. The purple medium sized glitters intermixed with the teal micro glitter is quite pretty. This could be built up to full opacity as well, but this ia one coat.

Overall I am super pleased with these Hard Candy shades! Totally in love with the variety in the collections and the uniqueness of the polishes. These will be making more appearances on my blog over the course of the summer I'm sure!

I haven't been able to get to a Wal-Mart near me to see if they have these yet, but I hope that once I can walk again they do! I would love to be able to add some more Hard Candy to my collection. Anyone want to send me some :P Seriously these are awesome and if you haven't already you should pick some up!

Are any of these calling your name? Hope you're having a great Tuesday :)

OPI Mariah Carey Swatches and Review

Hey Everyone!

I've got some more OPI swatches to share with you this morning, this time from OPI Mariah Carey Collection featuring the amazingly cool new Liquid Sand lacquers. I seriously love these polishes, and I think you want to see some pictures!

opi pink yet lavender

OPI Pink Yet Lavender the press release description is, "This pink glitter with lavender shimmer has superstar shine!" I wasn't expecting to love this, but it is actually really pretty! It's full of various sizes of light pink glitter and would look great over a number of different polishes. I've shown 1 coat over Rimmel Night Before. Great glitter coverage.

opi sprung

OPI Sprung The press release describes this polish as, "Fall hopelessly in love with this shimmery copper". And fall hopelessly I did. This has to be one of my favourite polishes this year. Yes I know it won't hit stores until 2013 but I'm in love. I have nothing like this in my collection and this is gorgeous. It is the perfect penny colour and I adore it. This was 2 coats.

opi liquid sand can't let go

And finally what you have all been waiting for, OPI Can't Let Go the liquid sand!! This is actually one of the coolest polishes I have seen from a main stream brand, well ever. The press release describes the polish as, "Hold onto this matte purple with dazzling sparkle". Gosh this is awesome. Even though it is matte there is this gorgeous sparkle that gives it so much dimension. Even though the finish is not smooth, it is not bumpy enough to bother me. I was wearing this in a skittlette manicure (you'll see it soon) while visiting a real life polish fiend friend and she was fascinated by the texture. I think even those of you who don't like anything but smooth polish won't be bothered by this texture. This is 2 coats.

The one thing I didn't love about this polish is the dry time. It is not a quick dry polish and since it is supposed to be worn without top coat you need to wait a little while. I would suggest sitting and watching your favoutite sitcom while waiting for it to dry. Also this goes on shiny and takes 5+ minutes to become matte. Don't be alarmed it will dry matte. I mildly freaked out a little when I put it on for the first time because I thought I had a dud sparkly bottle LOL! A note on removal, this is way easier than a normal glitter, but a little tougher than a creme. I had no issue with my cotton ball and pure acetone. The polish is a a jelly base, which I think it what makes removal easy. And of course you want to see this with top coat, so here it is!

With top coat this totally transforms and it is completely stunning. You will need a few coats of top coat, or a coat of Gelous and top coat as this is a thirsty guy.

Overall I am really impressed with the polishes I received for review in this collection. The formula is your standard OPI awesomeness and the colours are beautiful. Can't Let Go is the obvious standout as we have never seen anything like this before, however Sprung is also quite breathtaking. You can see the rest of the polishes in the collection in my press release here.

Do any of these grab your attention? Are you looking forward to the Liquid Sand Lacquers? These will be available starting January 2013 at Professional Salons and wherever OPI products are sold.

Products in this post were provided by the PR for my honest review.

A Breath of Fresh Air

After all the dark and crazy nail art that I do, sometimes I feel like my nails need a breath of fresh air. That was the thought I had in mind when I sat down to do these nails.

subtle stamping

I pulled out my absolute favourite OPI My Boyfriend Scales the Walls, I'm going to need a back up bottle of this baby! Anyone want to send one my way ;) and then stamped using BM-09 and Essie Penny Talk from the Mirror Metallics Collection. I was aiming to create a half moon of sorts with the stamp and I purposely didn't stamp the whole image onto my nail.

The hardest part about these nails was trying to line up the stamp to be in the middle and halfway down my nail! I by no means got it perfect, but I still really enjoy this look. Penny Talk is absolutely perfect for stamping and the metallic finish is beautiful against the grey white of MBSTW. While I was wearing these there was an extra shine on the stamped image against the creme of MBSTW that I was just loving.

This was the perfect refresher for me before I start delving into some crazy Halloween nail art, which I am sure that I will be doing quite soon.

Do you ever need to take a minute and wear something light, soft and delicate on your nails instead of a bright or vampy shade? Let me know what you think!

Hope you're all having a good Monday!
