31DC2013: Day 8 Metallic

Purchased by Me

Morning friends!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday! Today's 31DC2013 prompt is all about metallic nails. I love the look of metallic polishes, but I really struggled coming up with a design for todays prompt. I actually scratched 3 manicures yesterday before coming up with the idea of doing cogs in gold, silver and bronze!

I started off my manicure with Sephora by OPI Never Enough Shoes, which is a black with flecks of gold, silver and bronze throughout. Then I started freehanding the cogs using Essie Penny Talk, Essie Good As Gold and Essie No Place Like Chrome.

I loved this look, but it was screaming at me to be matted. I pulled out OPI Matte Top Coat and matted away!

As much as I like this glossy, I think I like it even better matte! The cogs really pop against the black background. I wish I didn't have to take this off to do another day! Alas that is the nature of the challenge!

What do you think of these cogs? Do you prefer this matte or glossy?

Copper Dreams

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Morning friends!

Today I have a skittlette inspired look to share with you. Marta of ChitChat Nails is an absolutely amazing blogger and always a source of inspiration to me. A few weeks back she posted this manicure and I instantly fell in love with the colour combination and knew I would be copying it someday!

I love skittlette looks and there is something about this that is just so elegant! Love! I started off with OPI My Vampire is Buff on my thumb and ring nails. On my index and middle nails I used Cult Nails Manipulative and on my pinky I started with OPI Sprung.

I created the gradient using Manipulative and My Vampire is Buff and a regular makeup sponge. Once that was totally dry I stamped using Wet n Wild Black Creme and PUEEN 23. I love how this stamp is for a full nail, but is sparse enough that it allows the gradient to show though! I added Shimmer Polish Katherine on my pinky to give the nail a little extra oopmh. I still felt like I needed something a little more, so I grabbed my Cult Nails Bronze Gemstones and added one to the base of my blue nails. Finally I took Sprung and added a few dots to my stamped nails to get the bronzed look on each nail!

I totally love these elegant stamped looks, and I especially love them when both my hands can look so good ;)

What do you think of this kind of look?!

Armed, Ready and Bronzed to Bits

Hey guys! I've got another olderish mani to share with you guys today! During the summer when I had a string of lovely ladies guest posting for me, I did a few sets of nails and then since the 31 Day Challenge started so soon after that I never got around to posting!

essie armed and ready

I got Essie Armed and Ready a while back and promptly put it away and completely forgot I owned it! So when I was going through my collection looking for some inspiration and found this gem I had to wear it immediately! Armed and Ready is an army green with a copper shimmer running throughout the polish. It really is beautiful and is a great colour for fall.

I was being lazy and not in the mood to do too intense nail art, I mean I was on vacation! LOL and I knew that these Cult Nails Bronze Gemstones would look perfect as an accent nail! So I randomly started placing the gems on my nail, trying my best to spread out the biggest gems.

I really love how these gems play with this polish. Also these gems are freakin SHINY! Like they just glisten off of everything. By far my favourite gems that I have used. Cult Nails nail art accessories are off the chain! ;) You can purchase your own Bronze gems here.

Sometimes simple nails end up being ones that I like more! Do you ever just keep it simple? What do you think of these gems?!

Hope you are all having a fabulous day!
