The Digit-al Dozen Does Love: Fuzzy Hearts

Hey Everyone! Guess what!? I'm DONE my hell week! I finished my last mid-term this morning, finished writing my last project proposal and handed in my stats assignment! I am unbelievably stoked and ready for Reading Week (what we call Spring Break here in Canada lol). I have a lot I still need to get done over Reading Week, but for the next few days I'm going to do absolutely nothing. When I get home from campus today I plan on falling into a coma. CAN'T WAIT!

fuzzy hearts

My nails are really what you are guys are here for, and today I have some fuzzy hearts to share with you. I haven't used any flocking powder in awhile and it caught my eye when I sat down to do these nails.

I started with Milani White On The Spot and then drew on my hearts with my medium length striper brush. I used Essence Off to Miami!, Essence Break Through and Essence Ultimate Pink. Then I picked out which flocking powder matched my polish. I went back over one heart at a time and painted a second coat of polish and then sprinkled the powder over the wet polish. I did one colour at a time so all the pink hearts, then the purple, then the coral.

After doing this I was COVERED in powder. Trying to get it off my hands to take pictures was a chore. So pleeeaaase forgive all the little bits that I thought I had gotten off, but my camera decided to pick up anyway lol.

All in all, these hearts were really fun! Whenever I have any sort of fuzz on my nails I always tend to constantly just rub my nails. It's like I'm petting them, but they're fun regardless of people giving you odd looks lool.

Would you wear these fuzzy nails? Or do you prefer a smooth surface on your nail? I hope you are all having a fab day and I will be counting down the hours until I can sleeep! :D

Make sure you check out the rest of the Digit-al Dozen girls!

Sugary Sweets are Such a Treat!

Who doesn't love some sticky, sugary goodness? Yes I'm talking about Cotton Candy. Today October 12, was the day that the Cotton Candy Machine was patented! So I felt the need to create some fluffy cotton candy nails!

Currently I can't remember the last time I had cotton candy, but I did have a Cotton Candy martini at East Side Mario's some time ago and it was completely delicious. I remember getting cotton candy at street fairs during the summer and loving it as it melted into pure sugar on my tongue. So delicious!

Since the two most common colours for cotton candy are pink and blue, I pulled out my flocking powder from Michael's and sprinkled Hot Pink over Essie Knockout Pout and Calypso over Sally Hansen Blue Me Away!. I was going for the super fluffy look at fresh made cotton candy has. On my thumb I tried to create the white cone that your cotton candy comes on when you get it straight from the machine. I used Essence Nude It! as my base and Milani White On The Spot and It's So Easy Stripe Rite Black to create my cone.

Did you love cotton candy growing up? I don't think I could handle as much now, but I used to just love this stuff as a kid! I think blue was always my favourite, because well it was blue LOL!

Hope you're all having a great day and you're not too sticky after looking at this sugary sweet treat ;)

Fuzzy Easter Eggs

Happy Easter Monday!

Here in Canada the Monday is also a holiday and some people get the day off from work, and I am lucky enough to be one of those! I have had an awesome long weekend, spent so much time with family and friends and just enjoying each others company. I also did about 6 sets of nails for my family and friends on Friday lol. While I was doing all of my friends nails I also wanted to do mine, and ever since I saw that Jen The Polish Aholic had done some fuzzy nails using flocking powder, I wanted to create my own version of them. I bought a 6 pack of flocking powder and had my friend pick 4 colours that I could use to create a stripey fuzzy look.

I started off by painting my nails with China Glaze White on White, because I knew I was going to be putting on a variety of colours and wanted to let the colours of the powder show up.
Then I put tape across most of my nail so that just a bit coming up from the cuticle was showing. I then applied a bit more of WoW and sprinkled flocking powder in Goldenrod. I was having a hard time getting the powder to stick when I was just sprinkling it, so my friends took it and poured each of the four colours into four little tupperware containers. My boyfriend commented that it looked like we were measuring some sort of fairy drug with all the colourful powder that was flying around! Then once the powder was in the containers I scooped some up and pressed it into the wet polish. Then I blew off the excess powder.

Once Goldenrod was done I taped off the top half of my nail and did the same thing with Lime flocking powder. Then taped off the tip and did the same with Hot Pink flocking powder. Finally I applied some WoW to the tip and added some flocking powder in Calypso.

These were SO FUZZY! I was amazed at how soft they actually were. I kept rubbing them against my cheek. Actually I kept going up to my boyfriend and rubbing his cheek to see how long it would take him to laugh lol.

These were super easy to do and I loved the effect. I went to a friends Friday night and he had a lot of family over and they kept being like Ooooo I want to pet your nails! Weird thing to hear, but still pretty cool at the same time.

For the life of these nails, I was actually shocked at how long they lasted. I did these Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon they are still fuzzy! Some have fallen off and it is a little matted down, but I can still put them up to my cheek and feel the fuzz! That is through 2 showers, washing dishes, making food and regular life. I am so impressed by these and love the stripes!

There are so many possibilities with flocking powder I think I am going to have to experiment some more :) Flocking power can be purchased at Michael's in the scrapbooking section. I bought a package of 6 in the Recollection brand for 11.99.

Do you love or hate my fuzzy Easter nails?

Sincerely Stephanie
