Gold Goddess Demeter

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Morning!

Today I have some random sponging that I did late one night that I actually ended up loving! I had been wearing piCture pOlish Demeter for a day or so and one night when I was all done studying I decided to add a little to the polish on a whim.

I took a torn off piece of sponge and started with Essie Penny Talk. Using a pair of tweezers I randomly blotched on the copper foil until I liked the look. There was still something missing, so I grabbed NYC West Village, which looks like a violet purple in the bottle, and a new piece of sponge and went to work.

Even though the violet turned out to be blue once I sponged it on I still was digging the abstract look. Although it still needed one more little thing. My gold studs from Born Pretty Store were sitting out on my dresser so I placed one at the bottom of each of my nail! Originally I had thought I would need more than one, but I liked the simple look of the single stud.

What are your thoughts on my sponged late night creation?! Is this a look that you would wear? Or should I have left Demeter alone? Hope you are all having a wonderful day loves!

Green Floral Dress

Purchased by Me

Morning!

Today I have some semi abstract floral nails to share with you. Pure Ice has recently made its way into Canadian Wal-Marts and I just haaaaad to pick up a few and I got to use two in this manicure!

I was watching What Not To Wear the other day and saw this dress that was lime green with huge bright purple flowers all over it and I thought, that would look gorgeous on nails! One of the Pure Ice polishes I picked up was the fabulous chartreuse Pure Ice Wild Thing. I knew this would be the perfect base for this dress inspired manicure.

Using a striping brush I used Cult Nails Tempest to create the largest parts of my flowers. Then I took the same brush and Pure Ice No Means No and made the next layer of my flowers. Finally I took Rimmel Night Before and created the centers. Then while it was still tacky I took a dotting tool and pressed into the centers of the flowers to give the centers a little texture.

I love florals in the spring and this was a tad on the abstract side which is totally cool to me. I didn't quite capture the dress, but I still like this none the less!

Do you like the floral print on top of the ugly pretty base? Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Aloha Beauty and the Beach

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Morning friends!

Today I have my entry to the nails section of the Beauty and the Beach 2 contest! This is the second time this contest is running and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try out a beachy look. I have actually been brainstorming for awhile and this was the second look that I did which was actually inspired by the first!

One of my favourite things to do on a beach is write in the sand. I don't think I've ever gone to a beach where I didn't write something and then watch the water come up and wash it away. There is something really romantic about this notion and I decided that was what I wanted to create on my nails!

I had actually just gotten the entire OPI Bond Girls Liquid Sand collection in the mail, I was lucky enough to win it in a giveaway, and they were all sitting out on my desk. After trying to emulate texture on my nails using cremes I decided to just go for it and use my Liquid Sands for sand writing!

I started off with OPI Honey Ryder on all my nails to get the look of sand sparkling in the sun. Then I took OPI What Wizardry Is This? from the Great and Powerful Oz Collection and wrote Aloha on my nails. I chose Aloha as my sand writing, because it means both hello and goodbye, it's the beginning and the ending. Again that totally romantic notion.

On my pinky and ring nails I sponged on OPI Tiffany Case to represent the water washing up to wash away the end and the beginning. I also added some starfish using OPI Jinx for a little more visual interest. On my thumb I just did a few starfish with the water almost reaching them.

I loved how I could emulate the texture of sand writing on my nails and have the water washing up towards the writing. It is romantic and sparkly and I had a lot of fun wearing this beachy look on my nails.

What do you think of my sparkly sand writing using Liquid Sands?! If you want to enter the Beauty and The Beach 2 contest you still have time! You can find all the information here!

Hope you're all having a great Saturday :D
