My Entry to Kayla Shevonne's Indie Nail Art Contest

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Morning Friends! I hope you all had a great weekend and aren't working too hard today. I have my entry to Nail's by Kayla Shevonne's Indie Nail Art Contest to share with you today!

indie nail polish

The whole idea behind the contest was to use indie polishes to create something and really make indie polises shine. I think my indie polishes are the stars of my collection so I went with that theme while I was brainstorming what to do.

indie nail polish

One of the first indie polishes that I ever purchased was The Hungry Asian Sneeze Breeze and it is still one of my most beloved indies. I love this indie so much I went with this as my first indie pick. Since this is an awesome black and blue matte glitter mix I picked out other blue stars from my collection, Girly Bits Denim Diva because I love this dusty shade of blue, and Princess Polish Blueberry Jam because who doesn't love a blue holo! I picked out Cult Nails Tempest the perfect white creme and Cult Nails Fetish to round out my selection of polishes and then got to work.

indie nail polish

On my index I started with two coats of Girly Bits Denim Diva and sponged on Princess Polish Blueberry Jam to create the holo gradient tip. Then since my theme was the stars of my indie collection I freehanded on a star in Cult Nails Tempest near my cuticle. On my middle nail I did 3 coats of my favourite The Hungry Asian Sneeze Breeze then added a coat of Seche Vite and black and clear rhinestones to add a little something extra. On my ring nail I started with 3 coats of Princess Polish Blueberry Jam then after that was dry added striping tape and then a coat of Cult Nails Fetish. I didn't top coat the nail to preserve Fetish's matte texture.

On my pinky I started with Cult Nails Tempest and then did a rough outline of a star with Fetish. I sponged on Sneeze Breeze near the tip and then reoutlined the star in Fetish. I also left this without top coat because I loved the mix of the matte glitter and matte black star. On my thumb I used Tempest and then wrote indie in Fetish and sponged on some more Sneeze Breeze and left this without top coat as well.

I absolutely love indie polishes and I'm super excited about this totally indie look that I came up with!

Indie's will always be the stars of my collection and I hope that this showed through in this manicure! :)

I had a lot of fun with this one and am really glad I decided to enter Kayla's contest! If you want to create an indie themed manicure to enter you have until April 30th and can do so here.

Hope you're all having a great Monday!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Love: Dancing The Night Away

Welcome back to the second installment of The Digit-al Dozen here on Sincerely Stephanie! This week we will be doing Love and Heartbreak in honour of Valentine's Day this week. I will have mostly love themed manicures, because well I am madly in love with my fabulous boyfriend, but I did manage to come up with one heart break themed one! Here is my day 1!

valentines day nail art

I was inspired to do these when I found this really cute picture on Google Images after doing a search for Valentines Day. Creative I know. I loved the couples silhouette dancing against the red background and the hearts coming out from them.

I used Girly Bits Rouge as my base because it is red, glittery and oh so sparkly. Then I freehanded on the couple with black creme and my itty bitty nail art brush. They didn't come out quite as precise as I wanted, but I still like the idea. Then I took Color Club Harp On It and a small brush and drew on some holo hearts :)

I entered these nails in Harlow & Co.'s Valentine's Day nail art contest! If you like them I would really appreciate a vote! Or just go here and vote for whoever's you like best :)

This week is really cute and I'm really excited to see what the other girls come up with. Make sure to check them out using the inLinkz collection below!

Girly Bits Rogue

Today I have a swatch of a simply beautiful polish to share with you. Girly Bits Rogue!!

girly bits rogue

Rouge is another polish that I managed to pick up from the Ontario Blogger Meet Up. Originally Elizabeth of Life and Polish had picked this beauty, but she started swatching a few on a piece of paper and once she saw that this had bar glitter in it she promptly put it back into the pile. I didn't actually pick this one up for myself as I'm not really a huge fan of bar glitter, at all. But I remembered that whenever my mom sees bar glitter she goes gaga for it. So I picked it up thinking I would gift it to her! My mom does love it, but thought she would save it until Christmas as this really is the perfect red glitter to wear with a little black dress. So I decided to swatch it, and then I just had to leave it on. I mean look at it! It's stunning!

This is a richly pigmented red jelly just packed with tiny red and purple microglitters and teeny tiny bar glitter. Since the bars are so small it creates this rich velvety look instead of looking hairy like many bar glitters can. You need to look really closely to even see the bar glitter here. I used 3 coats of Rogue alone and the glitter is so that once you start adding more layers the bars almost diasppear into the polish.

Another thing about Rogue, is that it is just so sparkly! Every which way you turn your hand it just shines. If you're thinking about a polish to wear on Christmas day, then this is it!

You can purchase Girly Bits polishes at a number of online etailers. Pam sells her polish at her own Girly Bits shop as well you can pick up Girly Bits at Llarowe, Harlow and Co, Mei Mei's Signatures, and Overall Beauty.

Keep up with Girly Bits on Facebook and on the Girly Bits website.

31 Day Challenge Day 28: Inspired by a Flag

Inspired by a flag! This prompt left a lot to be desired for me. A flag seemed kind of unoriginal to me, but then I remembered that in one of my favourite shows, The Big Bang Theory the apartment has a flag!

Basically Sheldon, one of the main characters, is insanely smart but has no social skills. He makes his room mate sign a 'roommate agreement' and in the agreement states that apartment flag, which is a golden lion on a field of azure!

31 day challenge inspired by a flag
I used Girly Bits Denim Diva and piCture pOlish Goldfinger for the bases and the details. I wasn't thrilled with the lion, but I did this last night at 10:30pm so this was going to have to do! lol!
Here is the flag Sheldon created that I was inspired by!

I do absolutely love Goldfinger! It's the first time I got to use it on a full nail, and the colour is fabulous in my opinion. :)

I am soooooo excited for my idea for tomorrow's Inspired by the Supernatural nails! I really hope my idea pans out!

Make sure you head over to The Lacquerologist to see what Emily has done!

We're soooooo close to being done this challenge! I'm really excited for it to be over so I can wear whatever I want for awhile! LOL!
