The Digit-al Dozen Does Animal Week: Zoey my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel!

Purchased by Me

Good Morning my loves!

Today is the last day in the Digit-al Dozen's Animal Week and today I have my absolute best nail art I have ever done I think. About a month and a half ago my family got a brand new puppy! We got a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and named her Zoey. She is quite possibly the cutest and best dog ever so I decided to do a portrait of her! I'm way too excited about these so here is my Zoey!

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Gah I'm so proud of that one nail its slightly ridiculous. Zoey is now 13 weeks old and the most playful little thing that just wants to crawl into your lap and snuggle once she's tuckered out. She's rather perfect and has managed to bring my husky, Shila, out of a depression after we had to put our golden retriever, Lacey, down in September. Here are the two of them together!

It's really funny watching them play because Shila just sits there and has to move her head and occasionally her front paws while Zoey bounces around her and occasionally jumps on top of her.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

On my thumb I used Cult Nails Fetish and then wrote Zoey in Cult Nails Tempest and then added a heart with Dollish Polish Lipstick Around Your Dipstick. I left it without top coat because I loved the textured look of Fetish. On my paw print nails I used Tempest as my base coat and then did the paw prints with a dotting tool and Fetish. On my pinky there are two coats of Fetish.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

On my Zoey nail I started with two coats of Cult Nails Manipulative, which you can't really see anymore because I covered most of it up lol. Then I used Tempest, Fetish, China Glaze Desert Sun and OPI You Don't Know Jacques for my portrait of Zoey. I used my smallest nail art brush and a dotting tool to create her. I did a lot of blending the colours to get some definition and it took a few different tries to get the right look on her mouth especially.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

I'm really in love with these, if you couldn't already tell haha. I'm going home again today and get to see my puppy again which I'm pretty excited for. I mean look at this picture of her, she's just ready to play!

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

I'm sure you're either bored of looking at my dog, or want to hop on a plane and come meet her haha. I love these nails are am super proud of them. I hope you guys like them as much as I do!

Make sure you check out the rest of the Digit-al Dozen nails that my friends have done :)

OPI Matte Top Coat Review

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Morning Friends! Today I have OPI's Matte Top Coat to share with you. When I saw the press release for this I was really excited because matte top coats always chip so fast and OPI was promising long lasting matte nail colour. I have two looks to share with you today so let's get to it! (My nails are super nubby and even nubbier now so please excuse this :))

OPI Matte Top Coat

Just to first test how matte this would make a polish I grabbed the super vampy OPI Eiffel For This Color and did two easy coats and then applied my OPI Matte Top Coat. This is a deep purple with some awesome shimmer. I was hoping the shimmer would stay even though it was matte, but unfortunately my colour choice fell a little flat. Since I have rounded off my tips due to breakage I thought this might be a fun time to add a glossy french tip!

OPI Matte Top Coat

I used NYC top coat and just the brush from the bottle to quickly swipe on a french tip. It's not perfect, but I enjoy the matte and shiny contrast!

OPI Matte Top Coat

One of my favourite matte looks is matte glitter, so I had to grab OPI Polka.com. I layered it over OPI Did You 'Ear About Van 'Gogh? and then mattified the whole thing. This is love people. Matte glitter is my favourite!

OPI Matte Top Coat

I ended up wearing OPI Polka.com for a few days before the matte top coat chipped at all. It seemed comparable to my NYC Top Coat that I use for my regular shiny manicures. I generally only use Seche Vite when I know I need my nails to last for a few days because I'm poor and like to hoard it lol.

I would recommend OPI's Matte Top Coat if you are looking for something that will give you matte nails without the instant chip. This is available now for $10.95 CAN wherever OPI is sold.

SoFlaJo Black Beauty

Good Morning my loves!

Today I have an AWESOME polish to share with you. When I put it on I seriously died a little and never wanted to take it off. I'm taking about SoFlaJo Black Beauty, and a beauty this is.

SoFlaJo Black Beauty

Black Beauty is part of the SoFlaJo Matte Love Collection. This was her Spring collection and is part of the Blacks portion of the collection.

SoFlaJo Black Beauty

This is a black matte holo. You heard that right a matte holo. I remember last year in April I was talking on twitter about an ideal polish I would love to see and I said wouldn't it be cool if there was a matte holo! Jody has totally pulled through on this and it is just beautiful. I honestly thought it wouldn't be thaat holo, but there really is a rainbow without topcoat! This was 2 easy coats. I could have gotten away with one, but I did two to even things out.

SoFlaJo Black Beauty

Of course I had to add topcoat to see how it would look and I absolutely love it both ways. I've been searching for a black holo and I am really happy to be able to add this to my collection!

SoFlaJo Black Beauty

You can pick up Black Beauty here on SoFlaJo's website for $5.00 for a mini or $10.00 for a full size bottle. You can also check out the rest of the Matte Love Collection here!

What do you think of Black Beauty? Would you like to see more matte holos on the market?! Hope you're having a great day! :)

Who Doesn't Love Sunshine?

Morning dolls! It is so nice being stress free these past few days without any pesky school or work to worry about. I've been lounging by the pool with my sister and obviously doing my mom and sisters nails! My boyfriend luckily got a few days off work so we decided to head up to his cottage for a few days to sit on the dock, go tubing and just generally relax :) I'm super excited! I did some sunshine inspired nails for the sendoff!

cult nails feel me up cult nails captivated

I started off with my absolute favourite yellow, Cult Nails Feel Me Up. It is the perfect sunshine yellow! And this is the third time I'm posting about it, you know I love a polish when. I previously posted about Feel Me Up here and here. Then I used Cult Nails Captivated on my ring and thumb for accent nails. I got Captivated a while ago, but for some reason never ended up using it! These two polishes play so well together. I love the sparkly orange glitter with the perfectness that is Feel Me Up. It just screams sunshine!

I also got the amazing goodness that is Cult Nails Gemstones and thought this would be a perfect opportunity to add some bling! I kept with my sunshine theme and added gems in decreasing size along up my nails :) Something to note about these gems is that they are SOO SHINY! I have used quite a few different rhinestones before and these really are the shiniest of them all.

Sooooo pretty! The whole thing just screams sunshine. Which is all I want to soak up right now! At this point I added Essie Matte About You to Captivated because I had seen Lizzy of The Do It Yourself Lady mattify Captivated and it looked awesome!

I am completely captivated by this combination! As gorgeous as Captivated is shiny, I feel like there is a whole new dimension when it's matte. It's stunning either way.

I love the whole Cult Nails combination going on here. Being one of my favourite brands it's awesome when I can create a strictly Cult Nails mani! :)

What do you think of my sunshine inspired look? Do you love basking in the suns rays? Obviously with proper sunscreen ;)

Even though I'll be away for the rest of the week I still have my twin posts with Carmela and some other goodies for you while I'm gone! Be on the lookout for and extra awesome #PolishDays post this afternoon!

Hope you all have a fab day and I will talk to you all in a bit!

Much love!

IT'S FLOAM DAY!

IIITTTT'S FLLOOOOAAAAMMM DDDAAAAYYYY!!!!

So if you don't know what Floam is then maybe you haven'thad internet access for a few months, so let me enlighten you regarding the absolutely incredible fabulous FLOAM!

I had quite the hard time getting my hands on this baby, but in the end, it was worth the effort. It is made by blogger turned nail polish maker Amy from I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous. This is hands down the coolest polish I own. It's a mix of yellow, green and blue micro glitter in a clear jelly base. The glitter is neon and it's matte! No sparkle and shine on this one folks. It has an incredible amount of depth to it and well it's just wow. Let's take a look.

HOW FREAKIN COOL IS THAT!?

This was 3 coats of the beauty and it just glides over the nail.

It is easy to see why, they are simply the coolest! You can get Floam from NinjaPolish or Amy's Etsy Shop. Both are out of stock, but you can sign up for email notifications for when they restock.

A Forever Mani

This is the 6th and second last post in the SNAAARKM challenge. The criteria for today's post is My 'Forever' Mani. Seriously? This was really hard for me.  I don't think I could ever wear one design, or one glitter forever. So I started thinking back. Before I became nail polish obsessed I used to pretty much solely wear red polish. Red is so classic and shows strength and power. If I was forced to have one colour on my tips for the rest of my time, well I think it would be red.

I went searching for a red that I could use for this. Something with a little extra. I ended up settling on Revlon's Fire Fox. This is a matte suede polish with a little bit of pink shimmer running throughout. It has more pink undertones than red, which is helped with the pink shimmer.

revlon-fire-fox

This really is a beautiful polish. I love the suede finish on this, and unlike the other Revlon matte suede I own, this one really dried beautifully. I think this would also look amazing topcoated, but I didn't want to lose the suede finish lol. Sorry guys.

revlon-fire-fox

Please excuse the chip on my index nail. I didn't realize it was as noticable as it was until I was editing the pictures and by then it was too late to redo the mani.

revlon-fire-fox

Yup this was a hidden treasure in my drawers of polish. I'm really happy that I picked this and I can only hope that we will never ever be forced to wear a single polish for the rest of our lives! That is such a terrifying thought!

Do you think you could ever wear something forever? What would your forever mani be? Do you like this polish?

Check out the other girls participating in this challenge! Alaina of The Little Canvas, Ryan of Dream A Little Dream of Polish, Ave of Polish Pixelle, Megan of Let there Be Lacquer, Nicole of My Nails. My Polish, Kristen of In the Name of Polish and Amanda of Fashion Footing.

Yummy Jelly Sandwich

Morning folks!

Today I have a very yummy jelly sandwich to show you!! Last week I showed you Pretty and Polished's Hello Dolly. Once I had it on for a few hours I decided to try making it a sandwich :)

jelly-sandwich-nail-art

jelly-sandwich-nail-art

I used Essie's Marshmallow to do my sandwich. Just one thin coat of it over Hello Dolly and Marshmallow created this yummy yummy jelly sandwich!

jelly-sandwich-nail-art

The more and more I looked at this, I knew that it needed to be mattified! So I grabbed Essie's Matte About you and went to work.

jelly-sandwich-nail-art

Wow I loved the look of this even more!! The squishyness went to a whole other level and I loved how I could still see the white glitter underneath jelly coat.

I can see many many more jelly sandwiches in my future! I'm in love with them! :)

What do you think of them? Any cool combinations you've done?

Elle's Spell on Rhinestones

Morning! I hope your week has started out well. I woke up this morning to it snowing!! I can't believe it's almost May and snow is falling. I only have 4 more days left at my co-op job and then I'm back to school! I'm really excited to get back to school for the summer.

Ever since I saw swatches of Barielle's Elle's Spell I was lemming it hard. A deep red jelly base with red and orange opal flakies? Right up my alley. Since the only places to really find Barielle's in Canada are Winners, I started looking for it every time I was in one. Eventually I found it!

barielle's-elle's-spell

The red base shows up almost a magenta pink on my nail because it is so sheer and jelly. Some people have complained about the flakies getting lost in the base, which they do because the flakies are so similar to the base. I don't mind this though because it gives the polish a bit of a different dimension than a traditional flakie.

barielle's-elle's-spell

barielle's-elle's-spell

I loved this and wore it on its on for one day but my Essie's Matte About You was sitting on my desk and I kept wondering how it would look matte!

barielle's-elle's-spell

My goodness I love this even more! Once it is matte the flakies stand out even more against the base and really shine.

barielle's-elle's-spell

This reminded me of those little bouncy balls that I used to have when I was little. I couldn't find an exact picture, but if this was red with similar flakies instead of white, it would be spot on! (Image courtesy of Google Images)

See the similarities!

barielle's-elle's-spell

So I could have stopped there, but there was a little bit of VNL so I grabbed some handy reinforcements and created a half moon with Wet n Wild's Black Creme.

barielle's-elle's-spell

barielle's-elle's-spell

I'm all over the half moon look lately. It is so easy to do and there are really infinite colour combinations.

barielle's-elle's-spell

It needed one more thing at this point, rhinestones!!

barielle's-elle's-spell

I first grabbed my 3mm rhinestones and placed them in the middle of each of the half-moons. It didn't look finished so then I took 1.5mm rhinestones and added one on either side and I loved this.

barielle's-elle's-spell

barielle's-elle's-spell

To me this looks so simple and classy at the same time. I'm glad I kept going with this mani and didn't stop somewhere along the way.

What do you think of it? Do you love half moons as much as I do? Does this look classy to you? What are your thought's on flakies?

Sincerely Stephanie
