Polish Days Try Something New

Gooood Afternoon my dears!
Today is January's Polish Days and the theme is Try Something New. I was thinking about what I could do for this post, an untried I have in my helmer (there are lots) a new technique maybe? And finally I settled on the sugar spun technique!

I started off with 2 coats of the beautiful China Glaze Reggae to Riches. This is a hot pink with blue duochrome flashes. It's a beautiful polish that I've had for quite a while now. Then I got to the sugar spinning with China Glaze Splish Splash.

This technique was way harder than people make it look in my opinion. I could no get my polish to string for the life of me. Eventually I made it work, but after quite a bit of having to really work for it. I used a dotting tool to swirl my polish, is there a better tool for the technique anyone?

Even though I struggled with the execution of this, I quite like the final outcome! Although it was taking forever and a day to dry so after about an hour I did take it off and put on some more it's late and I want to go to bed, but can't without naked nails nail art. Yes I am aware I'm crazy ;)

Have you made an resolutions this year? Planning to try anything new? Let me know!

Make sure you check out the rest of the Polish Days participants below. I can't wait to see what new thing they have tried!

  2. The colour combination is great! Spun-sugar always looks so nice but seems difficult. Maybe I will try it one day. I like how yours came out, looks like candy-zebra :D

  3. I haven't tried this yet, but every tutorial I've seen uses a toothpick. Worth a try!

  5. I've seen this sugar spun technique on so many blogs now and still I cannot imagine how this is supposed to work. I need to watch the YT tutorials I think, because the effect is really cool!
