The Digit-al Dozen September Spectacular: Blue

Purchased by Me

Afternoon loves!

So in addition to the 31 Day Challenge I am also taking on The Digit-al Dozen's September Spectacular! I love being a part of the Digit-al Dozen group. The ladies involved are so talented and some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of 'meeting' in the nail world! I posted yesterday about the wonderful giveaway that we are hosting over the next 2 weeks and today's the the first recreation post! I was not a part of the group until this past January so these first few days are brand new to me. So excited!

Today's theme is Blue and I decided to keep it simple. I love the combination of blue and gold together to decided to pair them and create a ruffian!

The gold I used was Orly Luxe and the blue is China Glaze Ride the Waves. I went with different finishes to try and get some contrast, which I really liked! You can see some visible nail line here, but in real life it was not visible at all.

I am really excited to see what the rest of the lovely girls have come up with so make sure you check them out below! Hope you're having a great day!

Aphrodite Lacquers True Love and Heartbreak Collection

Press Sample

Hello my friends!

Today I have some gorgeous polishes from Aphrodite Lacquers to share with you. A few weeks ago Rebecca came out with the True Love and Heartbreak Collection which includes jellies and glitters! Let's jump in with a jelly!

Aphrodite Lacquers Love Is Lost

First up is Aphrodite Lacquers Love Is Lost. This is a gorgeous blueish violet jelly that is simply PACKED with glitter! As with almost all purples and my camera this is pulling a little more blue than it is in real life. So imagine this a touch more purple.

Aphrodite Lacquers Love Is Lost

The glitter in this is various shapes and sizes of matte white glitter, silver holographic glitter and blueish purple iridescent glitter! The iridescent glitter gives it something just a little extra that I love. This was 3 coat of the polish and you couldn't see as much of my nail line in real life.

Aphrodite Lacquers Love Is Lost
Aphrodite Lacquers True Love Forever

Now we have one of a glitters! Aphrodite Lacquers True Love Forever is a clear based glitter filled with pink and red shimmer, various holographic and metallic glitters in pink, fuchsia and red. I paired this with OPI Chic From Ears to Tail. For a more dramatic look you could easily pair this with a deeper colour.

Aphrodite Lacquers True Love Forever

This polish is suuuuuppeer packed with glitter. I dabbed this on and felt like it barely needed a full coat because the glitter ratio was so high. I'm loving this look though, its so fun!

Aphrodite Lacquers True Love Forever

The entire True Love and Heartbreak Collection includes: Broken Heart, Ever Unhappy, Forgotton Promises, Lonely Me, Lonely You, and Standing Here Waiting (jellies); and Romance Never Dies and Happily Ever After (glitters). Each polish is $9 for a full sized bottle and is available here in the Aphrodite Lacquers Etsy shop! Also follow Aphrodite Lacquers on Facebook!

What do you think of these beauties? Will you be picking any up?!

butter LONDON Disco Biscuit

Morning folks! As promised in yesterday's post here is my full swatch post of butter LONDON Disco Biscuit. Let's get right to this baby!

butter LONDON disco biscuit

Disco Biscuit is part of the Spring Summer 2012 collection and is described as a, Tropical hot pink with an undercurrent of of tiny iridescent glitter particles. I adore the final product of Disco Biscuit, but this polish is a little on the trickier side in application. My swatch shows 3 coats and there is still a bit a VNL showing. I'm ok with this, but I know a lot of people have issues with doing this many coats. Also once this polish dries it is a little on the dull side. The jelly dries to almost a matte rubber finish. I added a coat of NYC In a Minute Top Coat to bring out the glittery shine!

butter LONDON disco biscuit

Disco Biscuit is a hot pink jelly with iridescent blue glitter running throughout it. As I said it's a little on the thin side, but as long as you apply it tenderly this baby really shines through!

I picked up Disco Biscuit at the Ontario Blogger Swap, but you can purchase it at Ulta's or wherever butter LONDON products are sold!

31 Day Challenge Day 22: Inspired by a Song

Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots! Everyboooddyyy!!!

If you haven't guessed my song that I am inspired by today is LMFAO's Shots. This was not my first song choice, but I decided to jump into it and have some fun. So let me present my shots of polish manicure!

inspired by a song

Each nail is done after an actual drink, of which I will provide the actual and polish recipe for below :D

inspired by a song

The funny thing about this manicure is that I don't even drink hardly! It's like a once in a blue moon thing for me that I'll even take a shot. I was asking friends on twitter, Facebook and in real life what shots I should do! LOL

I tried to use all jelly polishes to incorporate a liquid look to the shot glasses. It didn't turn out exactly as I had pictured in my head, but I think LMFAO would be proud! :D

inspired by a song

Thumb - TEQUILA! with a lime of course!
China Glaze Desert Sun mixed with a dash of Essie's Marshmallow. Add a lime with Essie Mojito Madness mixed with a little Marshmallow

Index - Upside Down Pineapple Cake Shot 1/2 oz. Vodka, vanilla 1/4 oz. Grenadine 1 oz. Pineapple Juice
Take one part OPI Guy Meets Galveston and add two parts NYC Lexington Yellow mixed with a little Marshmallow

Middle - Pornstar! 1/2 oz Blue Curacao liqueur 1/2 oz Sour Puss® raspberry liqueur
Start off by filling your nail with two thirds of China Glaze Ride the Waves then add a smattering of OPI Too Hot Pink To Hold Em as necessary Ring -Absinthe
Start with Ardene Neon Green and add Ardene Neon Yellow until the drink is glowing

Pinky - Purple Fuck! 1 oz. Curacao, blue 1 oz. Vodka Fill with Cranberry Juice
Fill with OPI Houston We Have a Purple and add a slight tip of China Glaze Under The Boardwalk

inspired by a song

This was actually such a fun manicure to come up with! I tried to take an awesome picture of me taking a shots from my nails, but it didn't end up working out so well. You either saw up my nose, or down my throat to my soul lol.

I hope you can find the funny in my shots nails! You should for sure head over to The Lacquerologist to see what awesome song Emily has been inspired by today!

And I shall leave you all with a YouTube video of the incredibly, awesomely obnoxious song, SHOTS! :D

Aphrodite Lacquers Evil Indie Polish Queen Collection

Good Afternoon dears!

Double posting? That's right! I need to be a good blogger and fufill my blogging duties in addition to the challenge, and this one is behind as it is! Awhile back I contacted Rebecca of Aphrodite Lacquers for something awesome, which hopefully I can share with you all soon, and she offered to send me some polish to review!

She sent me three of her polishes from the Evil Indie Polish Queen collection. There might have been some drama surrounding this collection, however I quite like these! So let's get right to it!

Aphrodite Lacquers Supply and Demand

First up is Supply and Demand. This is a white jelly shimmer base filled with emerald green square glitter and small black hex glitter. The white shimmer base is really nice! Some the glitter appears to be curling in my pictures, but this is more reflective curling than actual curling. I had very few pieces in all of these that were actually curled. This was 2 coats.

Aphrodite Lacquers Supply and Demand
Aphrodite Lacquers Temper Tantrum

Next we have Temper Tantrum. This is the same base as Supply and Demand, a white jelly shimmer with purple square glitter and black hex glitter. I did a little glitter placement here just to make sure that I was getting glitter all over the nail. When I was doing my second coat normally the glitter was dragging to the tip of my nail. More than likely you just need to be patient when letting coats dry. This was 2 coats again.

Aphrodite Lacquers Temper Tantrum
Aphrodite Lacquers God's Gift to Glitter

Last up we have God's Gift to Glitter this is my favourite one of the bunch! There is just something about black, white and red that is kind of awesome. Plus I get a legit Cruella DeVil vibe from this, and now I've got that song stuck in my head! This was 2 coats as well with some glitter placement.

Aphrodite Lacquers God's Gift to Glitter

This collection is available on Aphrodite Lacquer's Etsy shop for $8.00 for a full 15mL bottle. All of these are in stock (at time of publication) so I'd go over and grab one if you like them :D

What do you think of this collection? Are you a fan of white jelly shimmer polishes?

Make sure to keep up with Aphrodite Lacquers on Facebook!

Products in this post were provided to me for review.

Princess Polish Must Be Jelly

Goood Morning! Today I've got some swatches of the Princess Polish Must Be Jelly Collection! This collection is full of jelly holos!! So amazing! So let's get right to it.

princess polish must be jelly strawberry jam

First up is Strawberry Jam. This is 3 coats of a rich magenta linear holo jelly. For a jelly this was really easy to build to opacity, I used the least number of coats for this swatch. I really dig this magenta pink, it's a hot colour for summer and it's squishy? Yes pleaaasseee.

princess polish must be jelly strawberry jam
princess polish must be jelly mint jelly
Next we've got Mint Jelly. This was the sheerest of the bunch. I used 4 coats here and there is still clearly some VNL. I would almost call this colour closer to lime than mint, when I picture mint I think of a darker green. I think this layered over a darker green, or even a light green would be absolutely stunning! It is a scattered holo jelly.

princess polish must be jelly mint jelly
princess polish must be jelly blueberry jam

Last but most certainly not least we have Blueberry Jam. You all know how crazy I am about blues so the fact that this is a bright blue linear holo jelly?! It's blowing my mind. I think I have a crush on this polish. Seriously. It's love. This was 4 coats.

princess polish must be jelly blueberry jam

This whole collection is super sparkly AND super squishy?! This is one of my favourite indie collections that I've seen. I'm kicking myself that I didn't get the rest of the collection. I can't wait to try using these in a jelly sandwich! Princess Polish can be purchased here for $8.50 for a 15mL full size bottle or $5.00 for a 5mL mini bottle. When I checked last night all but Blueberry Jam were in stock. So hurry hurry to grab yourself a bottle!

Which one is your favourite? Do you like the idea of combining holo and jelly finishes together?

Hope you are all having a spectacular day!! <3

Jelly Gradient Sandwich Tutorial!

Gooooood Morning loves! Today I am very excited to present my Jelly Gradient Sandwich Tutorial and my YouTube debut!! You have seen the jelly gradient sandwich twice on my blog before, here and here. Each time being a different set of gradients. Well today I decided to create a blue to purple to pink jelly gradient sandwich!

jelly gradient sandwich nail art

I got a lot of comments on my past two jelly gradient sandwich posts so I figured it was time to make a tutorial for you all! Now before you watch, I have a lot I can improve upon. I know essentially nothing about videos, but iMovie tutorials helped me and here we have my very first tutorial! All things considered I think it's halfway decent for my first try :)

I'm hoping that I will improve with more practice and that my voice overs will eventually get better, so please bear with me while I try to figure out all this YouTube stuff! :)

Meanwhile if you would like you can subscribe to me YouTube Channel! :)

The polishes I used for this manicure are, Nailtini Espresso, Sally Hansen Glass Slipper,China Glaze Ride the Waves, China Glaze Under the Boardwalk and OPI Too Hot Pink to Hold Em. I'm not going to give a verbal explanation because that's what I made the video for! ;)

I hope you all enjoyed my first foray into creating tutorials! If there is anything else you would like to see a tutorial for, so I can practice, because I need it, let me know!

I would love to see if any of you attempt the Jelly Gradient Sandwich so keep up with me on Facebook and Twitter to show me! :D

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by!!! :D

Jelly Gradient Sandwich Take Two

Gooood Morning lovelies! It's a Monday, bleeeeh, but today starts my exam period at school. First exam is this afternoon and then in less than two weeks I am done my semester! So I'm going to let you all know that posting might be a little sporadic in these next few weeks. Gotta study for those pesky exams! A few weeks back I posted what I called a Jelly Gradient Sandwich. This was one of my favourite manicures I had done in a while so I decided to redo it using a different colour scheme! At the end of my previous post I talked about doing a gradient in yellow, green and blue. I didn't *think* I owned a yellow or green jelly, but upon further inspection of my stash I found some!

I couldn't decide what pictures to narrow it down to, so I'm just posting all of them! Keep reading after the jump to see how I did this!

Lacquistry Golf Socks

Today I've got an awesome indie polish that I have had for months! But just never got around to posting. I know I'm so bad. Let's just jump right in and take a look at the beauty, this is Lacquistry Golf Socks.

lacquistry golf socks

This is so pretty. Why oh why didn't I pull this one out earlier! For this swatch I have layered it over Cult Nails Feelin' Froggy from the Fairytale Collection that debuted earlier this year. Golf Socks is a deep navy blue jelly base with small copper and royal blue hex glitter, large gold and blue hex glitter, and medium sized gold holographic glitter. I used a coat and a half for this swatch. One coat had the smaller glitter in place, and I placed some of the larger hex glitters where I wanted.

I absolutely love this layered over Feelin' Froggy. Golf Socks could easily be opaque on its own in 2+ coats as the jelly base is so dark. What really makes this polish unique to me is the intense glitter combination. The copper and blue micro glitter is beautiful and the dark blue jelly base buries some of the larger hex glitter within your layers for an instant jelly sandwich with impeccable depth. Check out the macro shot below to see what I'm talking about.

lacquistry golf socks

Do you seeeeee that large hex glitter with some micro glitter suspended over it?! Is that not stunning?!

I need a slap on the wrist for not wearing this earlier. Seriously. It's beautiful. I purchased Golf Socks from Jenna's Etsy shop for $7.50 for a full 15mL bottle back in March. I know Jenna is currently completing custom orders and then will have her shop open. I would like her on Facebook to stay up to date on all the latest Lacquistry news!

What do you think of Golf Socks? Do you own any Lacquistry polishes?

Hope you are all having a wonderful Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by! :D

Aphrodite Lacquers SandBar Collection

Good Morning! Today I've got my picks from Aphrodite Lacquers SandBar Collection. I originally saw swatches of these on Chalkboard Nails and almost immediately rushed to get a few for myself. I wore these beauties, but just haven't posted them yet! Silly Me! So let's get onto the jelly goodness!

First up we have Ambrosia. Which might be my favourite in the collection. This is a delicate light pink jelly base with darker purple and gold hex glitter and smaller gold microglitter. I think the contrast of the pink jelly and purple glitter makes this one really unique. I used 3 coats here, and it applied really evenly. It builds to a beautiful, squishy opacity that I love.

Next up we have the beautiful Blue Lagoon. This is a super sparkly blue jelly with three different kinds of blue glitter. I think some of the small micro glitter is holographic which gives this an absolutely beautiful sparkle. This was the sheerest polish of the bunch, needing 4 coats for this swatch. There is still a little bit of visible nail line. However because it is so sheer, the depth of the polish is amazing and the glitter really shows up even when it is buried. I would probably layer this over a similar blue next time I wear it so there is not at much visible nail line.

Finally we have Rum Runner. This is a deep berry jelly with multiple kinds of pink glitter. I love how rich and luscious this looks. It reminds me of a berry fruit. Combine that with the jellyness and this polish looks good enough to eat. (I'm kidding here, please don't eat your polish.) I used 2 coats here and I had no issues with dragging or glitter application.

I love all three of these and think that the names are just perfect for summer. I really like how they correspond to yummy drinks. I can see myself wearing these sitting by the pool, or more preferably on a gorgeous beach somewhere!

These can be purchased on Rebecca's Etsy shop for $8.00 USD for full size 15mL bottles. When I checked all three of these were in stock! I would head over and get some as well as like her on Facebook to keep up with news of shop openings and new colours.

Do you love jellies like these? Do you own any of these gorgeous polishes? Are you heading over there now to purchase some? I don't blame you. ;)

Hope you are all having a very relaxing Sunday! We're down to the final few days to enter my Jamberry Nail Shield Giveaway! Get those entries in!

Orly Fowl Play with Striping Tape

Today I've got what was a maaaaaaaad lemming to show you. I have wanted this polish since I became a polish junkie. Unfortunately I started my obsession after Orly's Birds of a Feather Collection came out and then couldn't find Fowl Play in any store. I was about to resort to paying $10+ on evilBay for the beauty, but I couldn't bring myself to do that. So I looked at other peoples swatches and drooled over how beautiful it was. Then one day I walked into Sally's just to get Orly's Nail Rescue Kit and then it caught my eye. Fowl Play was there! There was just one left so I scooped it up and hyperventilated a little bit and had a gollum moment. As soon as I got home I had to put it on!

Orly-Fowl-Play

Fowl Play is a warm purple jelly base polish that is completely packed to the brim with red to green duochrome flakies, silver microglitter and blue glitter. I think there could be some opalescent glitter in there as well. I'm not sure it's just so PACKED!

Orly-Fowl-Play

Orly-Fowl-Play

Since you all know I can barely leave a polish alone, yes I know, even this one, I grabbed some silver striping tape and added two strips of it down the left third of my nail. I love how reflective the striping tape is. The light was just flying off of it everywhere and it really adds something that polish just can't do.

Orly-Fowl-Play

Orly-Fowl-Play

Are you not dyyyinnnng over this polish? Ok so I'm months late here but I am ecstatic that I finally own it!

Do you own Fowl Play? Are you as madly in love with it as I am? Have you used it in any nail art? I'd love to hear it all!

Thank for stopping by!! :)
