Gooooood Morning!
Today I am very excited to share with you six polishes from the upcoming China Glaze Sunsational Collection. The collection is split into two halves, the cremes and the jellies, I have 3 of each to share with you today!
I have lots of pictures of these beauties so click through the jump to see them all and my review!
First up I have the three cremes, because they are my favourites. For those of you unfamiliar with the terms, a creme is an opaque polish with no shimmer.
China Glaze Highlight of My Summer is my current polish crush. I want to wear this all the time and it is now on my toes. It is an almost neon mint green. I'm a tad obsessed with mint so this is unbelievably perfect for the summer. It also makes my hands look slightly more tanned than they are which is always nice.
As far as formula goes, this one does kind of suck. If you don't use a really light touch when applying it will drag and you'll end up with bald spots. I had to used 4 coats here because of that. You could probably get away with 3 if you let your coats dry inbetween and use a light touch. This also dries to a plastic finish, although I have used top coat here.
China Glaze Bottoms Up is a fabulous bright pink that still has a light quality to it. It keeps it from being a stupidly in your face neon, while still having that beautiful brightness.
The formula on this one was better than Highlight of My Summer, but still needed 3 coats to be fully opaque. I would also advise waiting between coats to avoid any balding. This dries to that same plastic finish, but I have used top coat here.
China Glaze Sun of a Peach is an amazing neon peach, with an even better name! Ever since I got this I have been using the phrase Sun of a Peach all the time. Pretty much for everything. Just a fantastic name.
The formula on this one was the best of the cremes, although I still needed 3 coats for full opacity. This dries to the same plastic finish, but I have used topcoat here.
Now onto the jellies! A jelly is a semi-translucent polish that has a "squishy" look to them. They are notoriously hard to get opaque, and these are no exception. I'll speak to formula for each individual polish.
China Glaze Shell-O is a super awesome coral jelly that I'm really glad to have in my collection! It is really summery and I think will look good on pretty much all skin tones.
As far as formula goes I did need to use 4 coats for this opacity, but in person my visible nail line was not visible. In my opinion the extra coats are worth it for the colour payoff.
China Glaze Keepin' It Teal is the sheerest of the jellies that I tried. This is 4 coats and I still have obvious visible nail line. I didn't bother doing any more coats than 4 because the colour really didn't seem to be building and I dislike when polish is extremely thick on my nails.
I do wish this was a little more opaque because the teal colour is fabulous. Since it is so sheer I'm thinking it would be perfect for jelly sandwiches or for easy syrup gradients!
China Glaze Are You Jelly? is a superb purple jelly. This was the most opaque of the three needing only 3 coats for what you see here!
It's such a nice medium purple and it did not give my camera any trouble! Usually my purples are slightly off in colour, but this one is spot on.
Overall I'm pretty pleased with these. The colours are gorgeous and I'm really excited to see more jellies! The cremes are a little draggy, but with a little patience I think the colours you end up with are totally worth it! These will be making more appearances here for sure!!
What are your thoughts on the China Glaze Sunsational Collection?! The full press release can be found here with the rest of the available lacquers.
