Geometric Challenge Day 10: Recreate

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Goooooood Morning!

Today is the LAST day in the Geometric Challenge and I'm finishing on timeeee! Wadddup! Today's challenge is to recreate a manicure that another participant did. I did something a little different. There were SOOO many amazing manicures that my challenge buddies came up with I couldn't pick just one. Instead I picked 10 of my favourites and one different colour scheme and using my new colour scheme I recreated all 10 of their techniques on my nails!

I went with a white, black, purple, blue and silver holographic glitter colour scheme and then just went to town picking my favourites.

Excuse my right hand as it has no idea how to pose lol. The wonderful Emily of The Lacquerologist made an awesome Pinterest Board with all of our manicures that made it super easy to browse through and pick out 10 amazing ones. There were waaay more then 10 manicures that I fell in love with, I originally bookmarked 15 last night, but eventually narrowed it down to 10 that stood out to me.

The polishes that I used for this manicure are, OPI My Boyfriend Scales The Walls, Essie Jamaica Me Crazy, Avon Suede Blue Royale, China Glaze Glistening Snow and black creme. I used my medium length striping brush and my teeny cut down nail art brush to do all the detail work as well as a dotting tool.

I'll run through what nail was inspired by who, starting with my left hand,
Thumb - Whitney of Dressed Up Nails Day 1 Square
Index - Alexis of XOXO Alexis Leigh Day 1 Square
Middle - Brittney of Precious Polish Day 6 Bent
Ring - Victoria of Manicurator Day 8 3D
Pinky - Emily of The Lacquerologist Day 5 Straight

And now moving onto the right hand,
Thumb - Brittney of Precious Polish Day 7 Polygon
Index - Emily of The Lacquerologist Day 9 Mix and Match
Middle - Whitney of Dressed Up Nails Day 3 Triangle
Ring - Lindsey of Neverland Nail Blog Day 5 Straight
Pinky - Alexis of XOXO Alexis Leigh Day 6 Bent

I have such teeny nails right now, if I had to file them any lower they would be bleeding, so I hope you like them even though they are supaaa tiny! ;)

I absolutely LOVE these nails and am headed back home for the weekend today so I'll be wearing these for the next 4 days :) I plan on enjoying the hell outta them!

This challenge was soooooo much fun! Even though I was late a few times I still loved creating all of my manicures and was constantly blown away by my amazing challenge buddies! They completely knocked it out of the park! These nails are proof positive of all their amazing creativity. I'm for sure going to miss this challenge, but make sure you head over to all their blogs and check out what they decided to recreate!

Geometric Challenge Day 9: Mix and Match

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Evening Everyone!

I'm posting this late tonight so I can try to get tomorrows final post up in time with the rest of my challenge ladies! The theme for this post is Mix and Match. I mixed and matched square with triangular to get this funky print going on! I actually had the inspiration for these nails quite awhile ago and just decided to go for it, so that's why they are quite a bit longer than in my earlier 3D post which are more like my current stubs I've got going on.

I started with my go to white creme, Milani White On The Spot and then just kind of went for it with my smallest cut down nail art brush. I used all China Glaze polishes which I will list below.

I went one nail at a time just developing my random collection of triangles and squares(even though they ended up looking like rectangles, whoops :P) and once I was happy with the shapes I went back with some contrasting polishes and added some shading just to give my shapes a little more dimension.

The polishes I used for this Mix and Match look are
Milani White On The Spot
China Glaze Towel Boy Toy
China Glaze Ride the Waves
China Glaze Def Defying
China Glaze For Audrey
China Glaze Creative Fantasy
These took a looonnnggg time to do, but I was soooo happy with the result! They were pretty fantastic to look at en enjoy :)

I feel like most geometric designs are some sort of mix and match of shapes and you can such awesome looks by mixing and matching any of them!

Make sure you check out the other Mix and Match Manis my challenge ladies did!

Geometric Challenge Day 8: 3D

Press Sample Purchased by Me

Evening ladies and gents!

I may be late, but here I am catching up with the rest of the Geometric Challenge! Today I'll be sharing Day 8 which is 3D nails! There are a whole lot of awesome options in 3D nail art and I am no stranger to putting crazy things on my nails. I had just received this awesome set of microbeads from Born Pretty Store and was dying to use them so decided to do my 3D nail art using them!

3D nail art

I had also just received an awesome package from Cult Nails with Cult Nails Fetish, a black wax finish polish and Cult Nails I Got Distracted which is that marvelous glitter you see on my nails there.

3D nail art3D nail art

For my 3D nail I started with a black creme and then added Sephora by OPI Never Enough Shoes to just a little extra something. Then I started adding small strips of slow drying top coat and using a fine dotting tool and water picked up each steel ball and placed it on my nail creating the green square pattern. Then I went back with some royal blue microbeads and added one in the center of each square. I thought it was too much for this to be on every nail, not to mention waaaaaay too time consuming so I stuck with the middle nail accent and let Fetish and I Got Distracted do the rest of my talking ;)

I quite like how dark these are on my little nails. I always love really vampy or dark polishes and looks when I have super shorties. Side note in reality my nails are even shorter than this right now. I had some baaaad breaks where on one my my nails it was so bad it could not even retain its square shape. Hopefully they grow a teeny bit soon!

Make sure you check out what the rest of my amazing challenge buddies came up with! :D

Winner of Sincerely Stephanie's Skittles Nail Art Contest

Gooooooood Afternoon my loves!

I have the winner of my Skittles Nail Art Contest to finally share with you! I apologize it took a little longer than I had anticipated to get a winner selected, but my life got in the way of blogging for a while as I said here.

This contest was ridiculously hard to judge. There were SO many talented entrants and some absolutely beautiful manicures that I am totally going to be replicating in the future. Myself and he judges went back and forth a few times narrowing it down from our top 10, to 5 to 3 and eventually one 1. It was quite a challenge, but we eventually agreed on a winner! I really wish I could have given out more prizes, but I am a student on a very limited budget so unfortunately it's just the one this time.

So drumroll pleassseeee.....

The winner is...

Jessie from Nailed It NZ!

The judges and I loved her creativity and her execution was perfect. I'll be replicating these some day for sure! I want to thank EVERYONE who took part in this contest, you all did some amazing manicures.

I hope to have a contest like this again someday :) Have a great day ladies and gents!

Where Have I Been?!

Hey Everyone!

I'm still here! I'm sorry for my prolonged absence, I did not mean to be away from my blog for this long! I have had a lot going on in school and life the past little while and just have not had the time to devote to blogging that I normally do. It's been for good reasons though! I have some exciting personal things happening :) I'm going to try to get my Geometric Challenge posts up soon and I promise I will have the winner of my Skittles Nail Art Contest up later today!

I do miss interacting with all of you awesome ladies and gents, but I hope you all understand that life does get in the way sometimes! I'll be back later today with some hopefully awesome content for all of you wonderful people. :)

I also came up with this cute signature what do you all think ;)

Geometric Challenge Day 7: Polygon

Purchased by Me

Gooood Morning! I'm back with Day 7 of the Geometric Challenge, on time this time ladies and gents ;) Today's prompt is Polygon! There are sooo many types of polygons, but I decided to go with a hexagon theme.

Isn't this awesome?! I'm a little obsessed with using the watercolour technique lately and loved this ocean like base I came up with.

I started off with Milani White On The Spot my go to white creme and then added a coat of Seche Vite and waited until it was completely dry. Then I added dots using China Glaze Sunday Funday and China Glaze Fancy Pants from the upcoming China Glaze Avant Garde Collection coming out this March. Then using a fluffy brush and pure acetone I spread out the blues and created the watery blue base that makes me want to hit up a beach.

Once I was happy with my base I added another coat of Seche Vite then took black creme and my itty bitty cut down nail art brush and started in on my polygons. Once I finished with the black, it reminded me of fishnets! I had this idea to add overlapping white hexagons so I started in on those!

I just used white creme and the same teeny nail art brush to draw on the overlapping hexagons. I started on my index nail and I think I got better at it the more nails I did.

These took me forever and a day to do, and a tonnn of coats of Seche Vite, but HOW COOL DO THEY LOOK?! I seriously love themm :D

Which ones do you like better?! Just the black or with the white?

Make sure you check out the rest of my challenge buddies did for Polygon day!

Geometric Challenge Day 6: Bent

Evening Guys!

So this is about 14 and a half hours late, but I'm FINALLY getting my Bent nails up! I absolutely love what I came up with for today! I wore these through my few exams during the end of my Hell Week and I think they brought me luck ;)

So here's how I got to this design. I started thinking about bent things, which led me to broken, which then led me to fractures which led me to a fracture pattern! I was trying to come up with a cool colour combo, but after much deliberation decided to keep it simple in black and white.

geometric nail art

I had just received the Cult Nails Anniversary Collection a few days before I did these so I used Cult Nails Tempest as my base. I needed two thin coats for full coverage, but I can see how you might be able to get away with one thicker coat. I just wanted to make a note on how wonderful Cult Nails customer service is. When I went to use Tempest there were a bunch of hairs sticking right out to the side. I trimmed them and went along my merry way, but sent an email just in case this had been a recurring problem with a batch of brushes or anything. Immediately they responded and said to just send my order number and they would send a new bottle of Tempest right away. I didn't ask for one, they just immediately offered. Amazing customer service! Has to be one of my favoutite indie companies ever.

After Tempest was dry I grabbed my It's So Easy Stripe Rite Black which I have been totally neglecting lately and started in on my fracture pattern!

After my pattern was complete I felt like it was missing a little something! So I grabbed Essie Good As Gold and filled in a few of my spaces to add a little extra dimension.

Wow that was a lot of pictures, but I adored these and wore them for 5 days! They only came off yesterday and my nails are still bare lol. I'm really enjoying my reading week and it's nice to spend some quality time with family and playing pointless games on my iPad and not feeling guilty lool.

Make sure you check out the rest of my challenge buddies, who actually managed to get today's prompt up on time! lol
