Candy Corn Jelly Gradient Sandwich

Hey Guys! Today I've got a bit of a Halloween nail fail. I did these nails after I got home from a curling game the other night. Started at about 10pm and once I realized it wasn't going to work out I didn't have time to go back and fix it! Since I want to show you that everyone has nail art fails, here is mine!

I've been itching to do more jelly sandwiches and specifically more jelly gradient sandwiches lately and I thought, hey! Candy corn has three colours! That will be peeerrrrr-fect. So I started out with Wet n Wild Black Creme and then added a coat of my trusty Sally Hansen Glass Slipper (I'm gonna need another bottle of this bad boy soon). From there I started my jelly gradient.

I didn't have all the appropriate coloured jellies, so I decided to make my own for the yellow and orange. Essie Marshmallow the best white jelly ever took white jelly position. I mixed some clear polish in a palette with NYC Lexington Yellow and OPI Roll in the Hauge then proceeded to make my gradient using the technique outlined in this tutorial.

If you're still reading now you are probably thinking, hmm Candy Corn does not go in that order... and you're right! In my post-curling tired state I completely forgot the order of colours on Candy Corn, which is actually, white, orange and then yellow. I also had recently come across NYC Demon Glow and then thought I could save these nails by making it awesome and glow in the dark. Only to realize that the topcoat glows under black light and not in the dark. Bummer.

This manicure has taught me that when I get home from curling I should just go to bed and attempt nail art the next day.

What do you think of my candy corn attempt on another jelly gradient sandwich? Hope your having a greaaat day!

  1. I did the same thing with Demon Glow! I locked myself in my windowless bathroom and was super sad it wasn't glowing =/
